About us

Welcome to the UCLU Women's Basketball page!

The UCLU Women’s Basketball society embodies UCL’s privilege of being renowned as ‘London’s global university’ as players unite from all over the world to have fun, improve their game and form a team known for our fair-play mentality and strong team spirit. The club takes pride in this international aspect and the huge interest from overseas students is reflected as we are expanding steadily year by year.

To cater for players of all levels, we are a part of both the BUCS and LUSL leagues, where the experienced first team players compete in the former against teams from across the south-east, while the improving players and beginners have the opportunity to play other London universities in the latter. Training hard twice a week with a professional and approachable coach ensures that players are fit and confident to win games throughout the season and, of course, ready for the ultimate contest against KCL in the Varsity match. Towards the end of each year players look forward to representing our university on tour abroad, competing successfully in Zagreb, Croatia in 2016 and becoming finalists in the Les Parisiennes tournament in the previous three years. We will continue to take part in international tournaments and establish ourselves as one of the top women’s basketball clubs across the country.

Off court, the team meets regularly to unwind over drinks and games on sports night, after matches and at a wide variety of club-hosted social events, as well as socialising frequently with UCLU Men’s Basketball and supporting each other at matches when we can.

If you would like to find out more information about the club or what we offer, please follow us on Facebook and meet us at the UCLU Welcome Fair on the 1st and 2nd of October 2016 :)
