May 2020 National Lockdown Week 9 Day 50.

E-mail sent by Eleanor Huggett, Monday, 25th May 2020 @ 1:53pm

Hi All
Hope you are all well and keeping safe. Interesting times. I am becoming an expert at Zoom Meetings and am now learning about Microsoft Teams.

We are still having a massive challenge with food relief from Social Development and are relying on Private Donars such as yourself.

A huge thanks to NoahCAN and to their team of volunteers. I know both Janice and Natalie well and Natalie is also the Chair of the Lower Houghton Resident Association. I can verify that everything below is completely legitimate and every grain of rice and every cent you donate goes to people in need. There are no overheads taken from the donations. The volunteers cover any expenses out of their own pockets. And if you would like to or are able to donate on an ongoing basis either finances or goods in the future or have access to resources please either let Natalie, Janice or myself know. And THANK YOU!

Many of you have donated to Project Blue Relief as well and this is already functioning across the city and Ward 73 will also benefit in the future. But in the meanwhile please support NoahCAN.

The statistics at the moment are that 30% of the courntry is on the breadline. So thanks again to everyone for giving up their time and helping in kind.

Week 4 Lockdown

E-mail sent by Eleanor Huggett, Sunday, 19th April 2020 @ 6:52am

As I drove home late yesterday afternoon I had to stop and take the photo below and reflect. Cllrs are seeing a growing level of desperation and are having to step in to do what they can. People are hungry and it is heartbreaking.  But Planet Earth is Healing.

Stay  Home

KEEP SAFE

Week 3 Lockdown

E-mail sent by Eleanor Huggett, Sunday, 12th April 2020 @ 11:47pm

Hi All
So another 2 weeks which we pretty much were expecting. However as Cllr Tim says

'I think the ban on car cleaning products, gardening and hardware is also madness. We could be using the time at hone to fixing things and sorting out the garden. I would love to build a couple of raised beds ready for spring. With regard to the selling of alcohol and tobacco, I have heard nothing.'

I agree with him. The economy was virutually at a standstill before the Lockdown - at least let garden centres, hardwares and the like open up to give shop owners and their employees some income.  And Please let us walk our dogs around the block just once a day. Dogs just don't understand Lockdown!

Besides that - KEEP SAFE. STAY HOME
