University of York Christian Union

What is the CU? CU stands for Christian Union (its also sometimes referred to as UYCU - University of York Christian Union). The CU is a large group of christians, and some non christians, from all types of backgrounds who are interested in learning more about God . We are passionate about discovering more of who Jesus is in the bible, and what He means for our lives now, even in the 21st century. We're not a church but are a huge group of friends who all enjoy being together on our campus and spending time doing various exciting activities! We meet on Saturday evenings as a large united group and throughout the week in each colleges, where loads of different activities and events happen.

Week 10 at CU!

E-mail newsletter sent by University of York CU Committee, Wednesday 30th June 2010 @ 12:01am

Hello everyone,

Sadly this is the last term time email you will receive from us, and for some of you the last you will receive as a student. I hope this week is going well for you and all the many things we have to slot into the last week of term are happening. We are all moving on, either to a different city/course/situation or into the summer holidays and God has a promise for us all. He will always be with us, and no matter where we are or what we do his love will never fail us:

"Come to me all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters,
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!...
... Give ear and come to me,
listen that you may live.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
my faithful love promised to David." Isaiah 55:1-3

Please remember this over the next couple of months. Although we will be seperated from direct CU support, God is the same and is still our rock. He will never break that everlasting covenant.

E-mail newsletter sent by University of York CU Committee, Wednesday 23rd June 2010 @ 5:45pm

Hi all,

24hr prayer is from Thursday 9pm, not Wednesday as previously stated.

Prayer is focussed on praising God for the work he's done this year/term and praying for the freshers arriving in October. There are loads of slots left, so please email Duncan on ds571, if you want any. You can turn up at any time even if you're not on the list. The slots are just so I know there'll be at least one person in the room at all times.
Attached are the slots taken/free so far.

Also, freshers' week t-shirts are now available to order. They are purple and have 'connect' written on them, the freshers' week buzzphrase for this year. They are priced at £8 and are available in XS, S, M, L, XL sizes. Email socs25 or sign up on Saturday at CU.

Thanks,

Thom and Vanessa

Week 9 at CU

Hi all,

Just a quick reminder:

'There is therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus' Romans 8:1

Jesus died for us so that we don't have to be condemned.

Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, this should be an encouragement! :)

Week 8 at CU!

E-mail newsletter sent by University of York CU Committee, Monday 14th June 2010 @ 10:50pm

Hello everyone,

I hope this email finds you well. We're nearing the end of term now, crazy! A time to reflect on the way God has been moving and growing you personally. I encourage you to take time out this week to spend with God and ask Him to seal on your heart everything he has said to you this term. And make the most of these last few weeks before the summer! For the third years moving on I pray you will have a very enjoyable end to term and are blessed by friends and free time!

"Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom." Isaiah 40:28

Good morning all :)

"Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever...For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things" Psalm 107:1+9

God is worthy to be praised: "I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies" Psalm 18:3

Let's praise him this week in all we do.
