You may have heard of Médecins Sans Frontières, the independent humanitarian medical aid organisation? (See http://www.msf.org.uk if you haven't!)
UCL FoMSF focuses on promoting awareness of, and fundraising for this charity. We were set up in 2006, and went on to become an official UCLU society in 2009.
We run various talks, film screenings and fundraising events throughout the year based around the theme of humanitarian medical aid, such as the annual Battle of the Bands, held in conjunction with the UCLU Live Music Society.
We also hold an 'electives forum' each year for students planning work placements in developing countries. Anyone is welcome at our events!
This year we have been involved with UCLU Darfur Week when we facilitated an MSF speaker event; raising money at ‘Dance for Change’; and the FoMSF Fun Run, and are keen to establish links with other societies and universities in the future. For the clinical students at UCL we organize a talk every year about electives and working abroad, and also host a speaker at the Careers’ Fair.
Furthermore, we have been keen to establish links with ‘Engineers Without Borders’ at UCL, which resulted in a successful evening of talks given by members of Article 25.
We were delighted to be given the UCLU Award for ‘Best New Society’ for our work this year!

Hi everyone!
It has been a great year for UCLU Friends of Médecins Sans Frontières, and we hope you have enjoyed attending our events as much as we have enjoyed organising them and seeing so many of you there - especially for our speaker events and Fun Run. Speaking of the Fun Run, it was a great success on Saturday and we owe that to many people, so please have a look below for an update on our flagship event of the year. Also, some of you attended our AGM, and I'd like to congratulate and welcome in the new committee - I'm sure they will make an excellent team next year and bring you many more fantastic events. As always, e-mail us with any questions, suggestions or comments at uclmsf@gmail.com. If you are lucky enough to have an Easter holiday, I hope you all have a lovely break and we wish you the best of luck with upcoming deadlines and exams!

Hi Everyone.
The Fun Run is approaching swiftly and we are no where near our fundraising target of 10,000 pounds. Last year the runners efforts raised over 16,000 pounds and the year before that we raised well over 20,000 pounds. This year we are close to 300 pounds...
Lets get fundraising and make this run worthwhile.
A few tips:
Compose an email to family and friends telling them a bit about MSF and the run. Paste in the link to the just giving page and encourage donations: http://www.justgiving.com/friendsofmsfrun2012
Large donations are wonderful but understandably not everyone can afford to give so much. Encourage donations no matter how small they are. Every pound counts!
Tell anyone who is interested about the run and why you are doing it. Encourage people to come and support you on the day. Getting the word out there is important, as well as fundraising we are spreading awarness.

Hi Everyone.
It is you UCLU Friends of MSF Annual General Meeting tonight at 6pm in the Christopher Ingold G21, Ramsay Lecture Theatre.
Even if you are not running come along and support our candidates. There will be snacks and drinks for everyone! The AGM gives you a chance to put your input into who will be running the committee next year.
You can also bring up any questions, issues or ideas you have for the society tonight.
