Dear Drama Society members,

Your fascinating weekly update:

E-mail sent by Trini Kaushal, Monday, 18th January 2010 @ 12:13pm

This term the workshops are having an overhaul. I wanted to take a different approach this term and create a programme that would be a more prolonged and developed, and brilliant for anyone with an interest in some solid training.

This term there will be a series of 6 workshops run by the same company - Tangram Theatre.

This will be followed towards the end of term 2 by 2 workshops by Jules Munns based in comedy, particularly improv.

The first six sessions led by Tangram will give everyone a developed knowledge of physical and visual theatre. A breakdown: 19th Jan - Session 1: Theatre games, Improv, situations, observation 26th Jan - Session 2: Space, time, devising solutions 2nd Feb - Session 3: Objects, words & silence and rhythm 9th Feb - Session 4: Mime, dynamics of movement, poetic truth 23rd Feb - Session 5: A specific Lecoq territory to be decided depending upon the group's experience 2 March - Session 6: Exploring the 'autocour' (the primary Lecoq creative process) This is a brilliant opportunity for some really solid training, this is the type of thing that would normally cost an individual a couple of hundred pounds. I hope it will inspire a real sense of the workshop program as a group/team who go through the process together.

If you would like to attend please contact me to sign up on: or 07939 130943. This is because we need numbers in advance so that things can be organised accordingly.

A bit about Tangram - In 2006, Tangram Theatre Company moved to London where it has since created 11 different productions over a three year period, including critically acclaimed productions of 4.48 Psychosis, (the Total Theatre Award Nominated) Crunch!, (the Better Bankside Shakespeare Award Winning) Richard III and Fucked. They also run a professional workshop program.

I will give details of the comedy workshops nearer the time. Hannah Berry.

Drama Soc Email - First of the decade! AUDITIONS, ED FRINGE INFO, COMMITTEE POSITIONS ...

E-mail sent by Trini Kaushal, Tuesday, 5th January 2010 @ 1:24pm

Hi All!

First off, a very happy new year to you all! We wish you all the best for the coming year, and, in fact, decade!

Our first term was one of the busiest we have had. With 8 productions on, we were busy almost every week of the term. Sellout shows, our most succesful Bloomsbury Production in recorded history, succesful re-runs of last year's sellout Ed Fringe Tour, an excellent selection of Workshops run by profesionals, and some really cool theatre trips, the first beginnings of our volunteering programme, not to mention the launch of our new comedy night, Comédie!, which will be repeated next term...
Yes, a busy term indeed!

A special thanks to everyone who has been involved.
Without your help, the society wouldn't be half of what it is!

Now... let's see what we have in store for next term!
We have a lot of important things to share with you, so, without further ado, let's get into it!

Your last update for this term:

E-mail sent by Trini Kaushal, Sunday, 6th December 2009 @ 7:52pm

Dear Drama Society Members,

A short message from Hannah, your workshops coordinator:

"There has been change. Tuesday 8th December will now see a workshop on Commedia dell'Arte.

It will mainly be based around the Pierrot character and clowning. It will be really fun. What a great way to end the workshops for this term. It is going to be taken by Luke Davies, and I encourage anyone who is interested in mime, or mask work, or FUN, as this makes for a brilliant background.

5 - 7 pm. First Floor of Bloomsbury Building.
