Audition Opportunities

E-mail sent by Khadeejah binti Abdul Halim, Tuesday, 23rd November 2010 @ 9:10pm

Dear members,

Just a few audition opportunities to update you with this week:

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
by Dale Wasserman
based on the novel by Ken Kesey

Tyrannical Nurse Ratched rules her ward in an Oregon State mental hospital
with a strict, unbending routine. Her patients, cowed by mind-numbing
medication and the threat of electric shock therapy, dare not oppose her.
But everything changes with the arrival of McMurphy - the swaggering,
fun-loving trickster with a devilish grin, who resolves to oppose her rules
on behalf of his fellow inmates. His struggle is seen through the eyes of
Chief Bromden, a seemingly mute patient who understands McMurphy's heroic
attempt to battle with the powers that keep them imprisoned. McMurphy
battles Nurse Ratched and the ward regime, challenging everyone's beliefs
about madness...who, of them all, is really insane?

5 parts still to be cast

Performance dates:
February 28th - March 12th
at Theatro Technis,
Mornington Crescent

Rehearsal dates:
10th January - 28th February,
sporadically

This is a fantastic opportunity for everyone involved to display their
talents to reviewers and names in the industry (including the wife of the
author), and to take part in a challenging, thought-provoking play with a
group of keen and creative actors and dedicated directors, as well as
experiencing some perhaps unorthodox rehearsal techniques...

We are looking for actors through to artists, including musicians, dancers,
stage crew, costume/set designers, etc, and anyone interested in the
production side of things.

Please bring your own piece to read that you feel is suitable and do not be
offended if the audition is cut very brief. You may also be considered for
future productions by the theatre company even if not cast in this play.
Please come along to the CSC Rehearsal Room from 3 - 5pm on Friday 26th November
(moving to CSC room 105 @ 4pm).

Those who cannot attend the audition but wish to be considered for a part,
please contact us at
tarzanimojane@gmail.com or phone 07904916888. We look
forward to seeing you th

Freshers' Plays Bids

E-mail sent by Khadeejah binti Abdul Halim, Tuesday, 8th June 2010 @ 4:48pm

Dear Drama Society members,

Bidding for Freshers' Plays is still open! Get yourself a play and bid!  You don't need a production team, the society will take care of it for you. This is the most important event of the year in terms of getting the freshers involved in the society so it is vital that we start the year well. The deadline is Monday 14th of June (next Monday) so get cracking.

Email all bids to drama.society.ucl.ac.uk, with the subject of 'Freshers Play Bid'. The is no prescribed formula for your bids, but include a cast list, brief synopsis, brief outline of your vision for the show, and predicted expenditure. Bear in mind that the budget for each play will be £100.

Also we are very excited to launch our new website at www.ucludrama.co.uk. The site is still under construction, but all news and updates will be posted there throughout the next academic year, so keep checking it!

Get bidding!
