JAILBREAK 2013 WINNERS

E-mail sent by Charlotte Humphries, Tuesday, 26th February 2013 @ 6:47pm

Dear members and Jailbreak participants,

Our biggest event for the year is now over and the results are in! This year we had about 70 people competing in more than 20 teams! Although the number of participants was noticeably smaller than last year, we have had some amazing results with seven teams beating the 1000km mark!

*Drum roll*

In 7th place- The Bee Trio- Nice- 1033km
In 6th place- Team Die Hard- Genoa- 1038km (close!)
In 5th place- Antonio and Jasmin- Barcelona- 1143km
In 4th place- B Cubed- Florence- 1214km

In 3rd place- Looking for Oz- Vienna- 1238km
In 2nd place- There & Back Again- Warsaw- 1452km

And, the clear winners, having traveled more than 5588km to New York City are...

Team Morph!!!

Congratulations to all of the teams! You have been amazing, your efforts and sacrifices have been great, you have been sleep deprived, you starved and humiliated yourselves, tarnishing your image constantly as you fought for every kilometer away from UCL, away from the ordinary, away from your comfort zone- to explore, to be different and, most of all, help the great cause that World Child Cancer is! On behalf of the whole UCLU & RUMS Raise and Give Society, I thank every single one of you for your participation, your effort and the funds that you have all managed to raise for charity! We love you!

Sincerely,

RAG Committee Team

Just wanted to say a massive congratulations to everyone involved in Jailbreak this weekend!! You all did an absolutely fantastic job - and we hope you all had a really enjoyable weekend.

Although the final results will not be published for a couple of days while we work it all out - I think it is safe to say that this year's winners are Team Morph - who blagged a flight to New York city and made UCLU Jailbreak history for being the first ever to get out of Europe!!

Keep going with your fundraising = Get your final results up on facebook and e-mailed around to friends and family...you all deserve lots and lots of sponsorship for the perseverance and determination with which you all took on the challenge.

YOU ARE TAKING PART IN JAILBREAK 2013 - Listen up!

E-mail sent by Charlotte Humphries, Tuesday, 12th February 2013 @ 3:39pm

Hi,

You are taking part in this year's Jailbreak adventure!

Here is a checklist of the things you need to be thinking about so far:

1.) Signing up to the tracking system. THIS IS A MUST FOR SAFETY REASONS, and it is how you raise your £50 minimum sponsorship for the worthy cause World Child Cancer. Instructions on how to sign up are below.

2.) Raising your £50. It is imperative that you raise the minimum sponsorship - Some teams are already doing a fantastic job, but it would be so great if all of you could raise as much as possible to be last year's total of £19,000!!

3.) Getting your team ready: I'm talking costumes, placards saying what you are doing (with big font so car drivers can see) supplies, a phone with definite roaming etc.

4.) Attached is a disclaimer form. YOU MUST FILL THIS IN AND RETURN IT at one of the pre-departure meetings next week - failure to do so will mean you cannot attend the event. So make sure you have it done and ready to hand in next week.

Those of you who bought more than one ticket, the friends you have bought tickets for are not included in this mailing list as we do not know who they are...If that is you - could you i.) forward this e-mail to them. ii.) E-mail their name, team name to charlotte.humphries@btinternet.com so i can add their name to the list for insurance purposes.

Thanks all, and keep fundraising :)

Deadline for buying Jailbreak tickets!

E-mail sent by Charlotte Humphries, Monday, 11th February 2013 @ 11:20am

Hi Everyone,

Jailbreak is happening in two weeks time on the 23-24th February...which means you'll need to buy your tickets asap.

The deadline for buying is the end of this week...as it is important that you have enough time to register at raise2give to sign up to the tracking system and get going on your fundraising. You also MUST have bought your tickets before the pre-departure meetings that are happening in the week before the event.
Signing up to raise2give is quick and easy...just follow the link to the site event page on raise2give below and click MAKE MY PAGE to get going. Each participant must raise a minimum of £50 - but we all really want to beat last year's total of £19,000 and give a great total to the charity World Child Cancer!

So... here is the ticket link to make life easier:

Bungee in the Quad 2013

E-mail sent by Charlotte Humphries, Wednesday, 23rd January 2013 @ 8:35pm

Hi,

Heard of the Bungee Jump last year, but didn't get a go? Now is your chance!

We're hiring in a 50t crane which will be positioned within the quad for people to bungee jump from! It literally is the experience of a lifetime.. Last year over 100 people took the challenge and jumped 50ft into the quad to raise money for charity.

It's happening on March 5th, with participants jumping all day. It costs £50 if you buy in advance or £60 on the day although we can't guarantee we will still have timeslots available on the day so sign up early to guarantee your place! We will let you know as soon as tickets are available online via the UCLU online shop. The jumping is 100% safe and we are using a very reputable company who specialise in crane bungee jumps.

There is also a fundraising aspect to this event as it is a sponsored Bungee Jump.
A
ll money raised will go directly to Great Omond Street Hospital. In fact, if you raise over £250 we will let you jump for free! So it is definitely worth getting all your friends and family to sponsor you! We are using the site Raise2Give for sponsorship: https://www.raise2give.com/uclu-rag-bungee-in-the-quad-2013/ ;

So what are you waiting for? Click attending on this event
https://www.facebook.com/events/436189596454766/?fref=ts
or buy your ticket now: http://uclu.org/whats-on/clubs-societies/rag-rums-uclu-bungee-jumping-05-03 ;

JAILBREAK 2013

E-mail sent by Charlotte Humphries, Tuesday, 22nd January 2013 @ 10:20pm

Hi Everyone,

It's that time of year again - when you have the opportunity to take up the challenge to travel as far away from UCL as possible without using any money in only 36 hours..
In other words... It's RAG Jailbreak 2013!
https://www.facebook.com/events/537311886293465/?fref=ts ;

Last year teams got to Poland, Barcelona, Berlin, South of France - can you beat them??

The Times:
Jailbreak is happening on the weekend of the 23rd/24th February. Teams will depart UCL on the saturday morning and will have 36 hours until sunday evening to travel as far as possible. It is then up to teams to decide how to get back and how much time you are going to take (and therefore lectures miss!)

The costs:
As well as the minimum sponsorship, tickets are £30 per person which includes 7 days travel insurance and a traking device so we know where teams are at all teams and can track everyones progress through Europe and beyond!

The Sponsorship:
As well as being a crazy journey across europe, Jailbreak is also a charity event so each team member has to fundraise at least £50. Last year everyone managed at least this, with many people raising significantly more. We're aiming to beat last years total of £19,374 so get fundraising! This year all the money raised will go to World Child Cancer, a great charity and you can check them out here http://www.worldchildcancer.org/

The other details:
-teams can be a maximum of 3 people
-we advise fancy dress for the trip so you stand out
-we use Raise2Give for sponsorship
-in the coming weeks we will be holding information meetings for Jailbreak where more informtation can be found, times and dates will be released on here when we know them
-the event is perfectly safe and takes place at uni's all over the country
-there will be prizes for teams who travel furthest and complete the most challenges throughout the trip (the challenges are legendary and guaranteed to make for some funny moments!)

If you have any more questions then please let us know!
