Welcome (and welcome back!) to UCLU & RUMS Raise and Give (RAG) Society.
Thanks for joining us at the Welcome Fair last week, we had a busy few days and it was brilliant to meet so many of you!
Just to recap, we're a society hosting fun (and slightly crazy) events for charity, from travelling as far as possible with no money in our infamous 'Jailbreak' event, to hiking to the rooftop of Africa in our Kili trek; we offer our members once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to make their university experience truly unforgettable.
A summary of what you can find below:
Event Info Meeting & Welcome Social
Cancer Research MEGA RAID
We had a great time looking through all your pig selfies from the weekend
Come to our info meeting to hear about this year's events, including LOST and many more!
Events & Welcome Social
Whether you're interested in challenges abroad, hitchhikes, or on-campus events, if you fancy finding out what we have planned for the year, come along to our info meeting...
Our *surprisewelcome social* will follow, so come along to both or head down to Phineas to meet us afterwards and get to know some of your fellow Raggers!
Cancer Research MEGA RAID
This October, we're working with Cancer Research in a 'Mega Raid' across London. With RAGs travelling to London from all over the country, it's going to be a really exciting opportunity for us to work together to raise some cash to fight cancer!
What is it??
The MEGA RAID is a massive bucket collection, and UCL RAG will have posts outside 2 tube stations throughout the day. As usual, we'll be bringing out our Pig mascot to try to raise as much as we can, so if you'd to like help the RAG Pig (or even collect as the pig!), please let us know which slots you can do by filling in this form:
Even if you can only join us for a couple of hours, very penny will bring us closer to the day when all cancers are cured!
Please come to the info meeting and social for more details.
RAG society brings together people from all courses and countries, we'd be delighted to have you join us.
Membership to our society is free! So head to the union website by following this handy link to sign up and become an official RAG member: http://uclu.org/clubs-societies/rag-society

We hope you're all really excited for your skydive tomorrow! Just a few final reminders:
We are meeting at 7AM sharp on Gower Street (just outside the UCLU building). The coach needs to leave on time to make it to the airfield for the safety briefing so do NOT be late.
You should look for John Annan, who is the RAG Committee rep for the day and he will take your name and tick you off. If you are running late, please contact him at 07791756170 (please save this number on your phone now).
The coach will leave the airfield around 3PM so if you have done your skydive and do not want to wait around, please let John know so they do not end up waiting for you.
If you cannot do the skydive tomorrow, or cannot make it for the 10AM briefing, please call Headcorn Airfield at 01622 891670 to arrange to skydive on another day (but it must be a weekday or you'll have to pay the difference).
If you have not fundraised the minimum amount (£400), please continue fundraising! You must hit this target, before or after the skydive. Lots of your friends will be really impressed by you after you prove you did it so remember to remind people to donate after tomorrow!
Please note the previous email about insurance.
You can have friends join you at the airfield to watch you! But please be aware the coach is now full so they will need to make their own way there.
If you would like to have photographs/videos taken, you will need to hire a photographer to go up in the plane with you and you can organise this at the airfield. Please note you cannot take a camera up with you as if it falls as you skydive and hits someone, it could result in serious injury.
Thank you for all your amazing fundraising so far and enjoy your skydive! We look forward to seeing photos and hearing about your experience so do share it with us so we can continue to improve :)

Quick note about insurance: it is not provided by us as a society OR the Headcorn Airfield. The airfield's website states "The BPA membership includes third party insurance. Personal accident insurance is available from www.sky-cover.co.uk." The third party insurance (third party legal liability insurance & death and critical injury insurance) covers accidental harm you may cause to others by your skydiving, for instance by damaging their property through an off-landing. If you want personal accident insurance, they suggest using a company called Sky Cover, and you can head to their website and purchase it yourself. We believe it should only be £29 as you are doing a single day skydive in the UK.
We hope this helps! Please contact us if you have any questions.
