I’m excited to announce that this year the Running Club will be hosting a campus 5k on Sunday, September 13th. As some of you may remember we have been looking for opportunities to give back to the community. Last year, we held a shoe drive as an attempt to do what we could through running to help others. This year we will be partnering with a Campus Life student group called Project Food Security to put on a race.
All proceeds of the race will go to Second Harvest Heartland which is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing food to those in need in the surrounding community. We are hoping to get as many running club members as possible to participate. If you are interested, please sign up at the link below and make a difference by participating in the sport we love! (It will also be a great tune-up race before the season)

Project Food Security is a small group on campus focused on food insecurity and its surrounding issues. Their mission is to inform the university and the community about the complexities of overcoming food insecurity, as well as to work "on-the-ground" with local non-profits to help Minnesotans in need of Food assistance. They cover a wide range of topics and events throughout the year, including informational sessions and educational movie nights, as well as outreach efforts and volunteering with non-profits and schools.
The Back-To-School 5K is one of their biggest events. This year, we will be partnering with them to put on this event! It will be on September 13th on a beautiful route through the fields of the St. Paul Campus. If you are interested in volunteering, please use the Sign Up Link. Most of the volunteer opportunities are listed in pairs, if you want to volunteer with a friend, be sure to put your name in the same outlined box. Our Volunteers will receive $10 back on their registration fee after the event!
