Andrew Savage


Andrew is a 3rd year Zoology student. He has been a diver for 5 years and in that time undertaken a wide range of both BSAC and PADI courses. He is a BSAC Assistant Instructor and qualified boat handler. He was President in the 2012-2013 committee. He’s looking forward to finishing his Dive Leader course and all the extra options that that entails.

Martin Vickers

Dive Officer

A Nottingham University graduate who is in his final year of his Ph.D in Physics at Aberystwyth. A keen SCUBA diver since his PADI course in Thailand, Martin has been an active member of the club for the past three years. The 2011/2012 academic year will be his fourth year in the club and his third year as a committee member. After completing his Dive Leader and IFC qualification he is now working towards his instructor qualifications to become an OWI for the 2011/2012 academic year.

Will Payne

Training Officer

Will is a third year marine and freshwater biology student. He has been diving for 3 years, going from complete novice to a PADI divemaster while volunteering on a marine conservation project in the Philippines. More recently he has completed the PADI Open Water Instructor Course and hopes to become a BSAC instructor as well. Last year he took the role of social secretery and is now filling the role of training officer.

Aidan Fewster

Boat Officer

Aidan is currently in his third year of a BSc in Computer Science.  Aidan began his diving career with PADI, and trained up to a PADI recue diver. After joining the university club he has crossed over to a BSAC sports diver and then taken his BSAC boat handling course, and is awaiting his instructor foundation course. Last year he was the social secretary for the sub aqua club and this year he’s the boat officer.

Rebecca Pawluk


Becky is a third year marine and freshwater biology student who qualified as an open water diver during college. Upon joining the club last year she began training as a BSAC sports diver. After completing this she hopes to carry on with qualifications in the hope that it will help in her career, she also wants to use it as an excuse to travel to amazing hot countries!

Simon Lines

Equipment Officer

Simon is a 3rd year Environmental science student. He is a BSAC sports diver with plans to try and progress to dive leader. Because he doesn't do biology he hasn't have a clue what he's seeing underwater apart from fish and other stuff. He also once got caught in a fishing net, funny story

Victoria Walley

Expeditions Officer

Victoria (Walley) is a third year law student who started diving last year. She has only dived abroad once on the lanzarote trip and loved it. Her proudest diving moment was CBL with a dry suit and a rebreather.

Joe Cross

Expeditions Officer

Joe is a 3rd year Marine and Freshwater biology student. He learnt to dive in Malta 4 years ago while on holiday since then he has been diving in various locations across the world and is a qualified PADI Rescue Diver. He looks forward in continuing his training and trying a wide variety of dives with university this year.

Jonny Bellamy

Social Secretary

Jonny Bellamy is a rescue diver who has dived in Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, Aruba, Wakatobi and The Pacific Islands. He doesn't own a dry suit.

Steph Eccles

Social Secretary

Steph is a 2nd year marine and freshwater biologist. She has been diving sine she was 11 and is completing her sports diver bsac qualification this year. This year she is joint social secretary for the club with Jonny and has a lot of exciting socials planned. Steph has dived in places such as Thailand, Maldives and Kenya. Her first diving in the UK was with the sub aqua club last year and even though it was very cold she thoroughly enjoyed it.
