Medical Justice Talk Tonight
Where: Oxhub
When 7:30pm

(From OU Amnesty)

Hi everyone,

Just a quick reminder about the speaker Amnesty are hosting tonight, Emma Ginn, spokeswoman for Medical Justice.

Medical Justice is an incredible charity, who expose and challenge inadequate healthcare provision to immigration detainees, both by raising awareness through campaigning and also through sending volunteer NHS doctors to detention centres where healthcare provision is lacking..

This is a subject very close to our hearts, with Campsfield so nearby.

Please check out the link below to see some of the causes medical justice have campaigned for:

http ://www . guardian . co . uk/commentisfree/2011/oct/12/jimmy-mubenga-death-deportation

This is a must hear talk for any aspiring human rights activist/medic,and we look forward to seeing you there.

It will be at OxHub's meeting room, 7.30, TONIGHT!

Close Campsfield Demo This SATURDAY!

E-mail sent by Joe Shields, Thursday, 26th January 2012 @ 2:10pm

Just 6 miles from the centre of Oxford, 216 refugees and asylum seekers are being held in a prison, without charge, without time limit, without proper reasons given, and without proper access to legal representation. This has got to stop.

Meet at 11am at Martyrs’ Memorial, St Giles, Oxford to cycle to Campsfield, or catch the 11.15am S4 bus to Oxford Airport, leaving from stop C4 by side of the Randolph Hotel in Magdalen Street West (last stop before traffic lights).

After the demonstration, members of SOAS Detainee Support Group will be sharing their experiences of visiting individuals in detention centres. They will no doubt have invaluable advice on setting up a similar group in Oxford. This event will be held at 3.15pm, in the Old Seminar Room at Wadham College.

Demonstrations are held on the last saturday of every month.
