About Stapleton Park Hill Rugby
The Stapleton Park Hill Rugby Club is a northeast Denver rugby club in its second year of existence. We are sanctioned by USA Rugby and Rugby Colorado (www.rugbycolorado.com) and USA Rugby (www.usarugby.org) to develop and grow the sport of rugby for all inclusive age grade boys and girls in Colorado. We operate as a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization. Our tax id is that of Colorado Youth Rugby Inc., 84 0898467.
Our focus is on safety, sportsmanship and the strengthening of youth character by introducing the core values of rugby into a team sports experience that will endure for a life time. Most of our players come from Stapleton and Park Hill. We believe that Stapleton Park Hill will become a force in Colorado and US rugby. The president of our club is Andre Bachelet, who has been captain of the USA National Team for five years and still plays for Glendale, the 2011 Division 1 national champion. Our coaching coordinator is Allan Wilson, coach of both the Denver University team and the Under 17 Colorado Select Side. We plan to grow our youth programs to include youth through the age of. We are closely aligned with Denver University and hope to feed a number of players into their program. We field co-ed teams up through 11 years old, after which the league requires that we field separate boys and girls teams. We offer coed flag (non-contact) rugby for boys and girls 7 and under and tackle for older boys and girls.
Our season begins on May 26, Anyone older than 7 wishing to play flag can practice with us, and we will try to arrange for them to play touch until they feel comfortable playing tackle.
Starting April 14, we plan to practice at Central Park fields 1 & 2 on Saturdays, 9-11AM and at Westerly Creek Elementary (8800 E. 28th Avenue, Denver) on Wednesdays, 5-6:30PM. In inclement weather we may move practice to an alternate site.
