The Chapel Choir is a twenty-strong mixed voice ensemble consisting of twelve choral scholars and a number of volunteer singers admitted by audition from throughout the University. They sing evensong twice weekly, on Thursday & Sunday evenings, and also perform regular concerts with professional orchestras, most recently JS Bach’s St Matthew Passion in March 2007. The choir tours in the Summer of every year, with past destinations including France, Malta & Italy. The sung repertoire of the Choir is focused around its devotional function and ranges from the 14th Century to the present day, with two new works written for the choir by leading British musicians in 2006-07. The Choir also maintains a healthy social dimension, with Formal Hall provided free of charge for all singers post-evensong & the annual choir dinner proving a highlight of Trinity term.
