Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) Cambridge

About this group

SIFE is a global organisation with over 1500 teams, which aims to create economic opportunity for others through student-led projects. SIFE Cambridge, founded in 2004, is a volunteer organisation focussing on social enterprise; our aim is to empower people by teaching them essential personal success skills, and "helping them to help themselves".

Current projects include:
* Aspire: mentoring refugees and asylum seekers in Cambridge, helping them improve their English and settle into life in the UK
* Sri Lankan Cards Project: helping rural Sri Lankan market their handmade cards in the UK, promoting microenterprise as a means out of the poverty cycle
* Take the Leap: working with local colleges to promote business and enterprise education through day-long workshops
* Alora Bespoke Dressmaking: a business that employs seamstresses in low-income communities to create made-to-measure special occasion wear (especially for the May Ball season)

New projects are welcome!

SIFE-Leadership opportunity

E-mail sent by Ivy Deng, Sunday, 6th March 2011 @ 10:47am

Hi all,

SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) Cambridge is always looking for members to help the running of projects.
At the moment, we're especially in need of a co-leader for Take the Leap, which runs business workshops at local community colleges for Year 7s.
No experience needed and I guarantee the workshops would be lots of fun!
Please contact Ivy (iysd2) or Yi (yh310) if you're interested.

Other current projects which we're recruiting for are:

- The Lavinia Project, which sells cards handmade by Sri Lankan women living in slums.

- Alora, helping tailors in Vietnam to expand their businesses.

- Aspire, offering outreach sessions to refugees and asylum seeks around Cambridge.
Please contact Ivy (iysd2) if you're interested in any of these projects.

Thank you!
