The Pittsburgh Post is the local chapter of the Society of American Military Engineers, for the Greater Pittsburgh Region.
The SAME Mission To promote and facilitate engineering support for national security by developing and enhancing relationships and competencies among uniformed services, public- and private-sector engineers and related professionals, and by developing future engineers through outreach and mentoring.

On Friday and Saturday, February 14-15, 2014, volunteers from the Post and USACE Pittsburgh District, manned a presentation booth at the Carnegie Science Center. The National Engineers' Week activities culminates in this Friday & Saturday event where many organizaitons and companies sponsor educational booths for visitng school age children, including school field trips.
Lead by SAME Fellow Jack Dziubek, shown above, volunteers aided young children and high school students with navigating the West Point Bridge Design software program. The kids were quite interested in toying with inner working of truss bridges.
The Corps brought their finely detailed, functional, lock & dam model:
The children were equally interested in watching the water level raise and lower in the modelled lock.
