Summer Internship Programme
In the UK, we offer a ten-week Internship Programme during the summer, commencing 29 June 2009. The programme is principally aimed at undergraduates in their penultimate year at university.

You will spend your first week on a training course in London, which will give you the necessary skills and tools for getting the most out of your Internship. Subjects covered include financial analysis and accounting, computer training and data research tools, as well as an introduction to our different divisions. Following the course, you will spend the rest of the Internship in your team.

You will get a hands-on, insider’s understanding of the work we do. You will be expected to work on live transactions and marketing projects, assisting in the research and analysis of different companies and sectors. Graduates from recent years are always on hand to guide you through and you will find that, as part of a team, you will get plenty of support.

Your Internship with us gives us a chance to get to know you. If the Internship goes well, we shall offer you a place on the next year’s Graduate Programme.

HOW TO APPLY
Applications open in September 2008 and are strictly via an online application form.

We will close for applications on Monday 5 January 2009. First round interviews will be held from December 2008 at our London office with final round interviews taking place in early February 2009.

Long Term Internship Programme
We offer Long Term Internships in our Investment Banking division in London, and our regional offices (Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham). These posts are available all year round (except during the summer) and run for periods of between three and six months.

You will be placed in a single team for the duration of your internship and get a hands-on, insider’s understanding of the work we do.

Application is strictly via an online application form.

We recruit all year round for long term internships and therefore there is no closing date. You will be asked to specify on the form your preferred start date and internship duration.

Graduate Recruitment Programme
On joining the Graduate Training Programme in the Autumn, you and other new Graduates from our offices worldwide will start a comprehensive training programme based in London. The first six weeks consist of formal classroom based training, with subjects including financial analysis, investment and funding, valuation, practical aspects of investment banking, as well as introductions to the financial markets, law and taxation.

As part of the Graduate Training Programme, UK graduates will also spend short placements in Investment Banking (including M&A and DCM Advisory or ECM Advisory).

During your time in these business areas, you will be seconded to different teams and become involved in live work. This will give you the chance to gain invaluable hands-on experience. It also gives extensive exposure to senior management, both individually and in team situations. Technical training and personal development will be integral to your career from your first day and will continue once you have been assigned to a specific team.

Rothschild is not hierarchical - you will find yourself being given a lot of responsibility very early on. There is also a great deal of research and analysis to do, writing papers which provide the senior bankers with the information on which to base their advice. You will also be called upon to do lots of financial modelling: valuing companies and businesses, and investigating the likely effect on a company of an acquisition or disposal. This will require long hours and flexibility, as you are required to produce detailed analyses at short notice. Investment bankers need not only to be skilled in their own demanding disciplines but also, for the conception and early stages of a transaction, to understand the specialist areas covered by other advisers. So there is a very steep learning curve to be climbed before you can start to give advice on your own account.

HOW TO APPLY
Graduates are recruited from all degree disciplines. A high level of academic achievement is required, together with strong numeracy and excellent social and interpersonal skills. We recruit graduates into London, Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds.

Application to the 2009 Rothschild Graduate Programme, is strictly via online application form which can be found on our website.

Applications will open early September 2008 and will close for the UK at midnight on Monday 3rd November 2008.

First round interviews will start as soon as we receive applications with final round interviews and tests taking place on 21/22 November 2008. Further information about our recruitment process can also be found online.
