A special treat for this summer outing in Oregon is music by the incredibly-talented Midwest favorites Chris Wagoner and Mary Gaines.
Gaines and Wagoner have been the recipients of several WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Industry) nominations and awards over the years for their work with Harmonious Wail and The Common Faces, and several recent MAMAs (Madison Area Music Awards) for String Player of the Year (Violin and Cello), Specialty Instrument (Lapsteel), Best Male and Female Vocalist, and a Lifetime Career Achievement Award - as well as session work on numerous recordings that have received MAMAs for Album of the Year (Harmonious Wail, Graminy, Beth Kille, Mark Croft, The Moon Gypsies). The Stellanovas play fun swingin’ vintage jazz, blues and eclectic folk-pop.
They are playing at a very reduced rate. If you can please be generous and throw something into the tip jar.
There will be avery short business meeting sometime though the night.
july 19th Summer vineyard Walk at West Madison Research Station in Verona. Check out www.wigrapes.org for details.
Wine of the month - Wine that pairs with BBQ chicken: On the whole, the best wine to pair with most barbecued chicken is probably a Zinfandel because of its combination of fruity and smoky flavors. An "old vines" Zinfandel can work especially well here but there also are some nice wines that mix Zinfandel with other varieties, like Petite Sirah. I also like a Foch here Or really any wine you want to share with friends.
July Meeting is at Mark and Rose Freidel's. We have a surprise for that event also. Watch for details but save the date of July 24th.
I Hope to see you all ther later. My oldest has a softball game in Mt Horeb. We plan to stop on our way back home. Hopefully a most of you are still there.
