Oxford Women in politics (OxWip) was founded in Hillary 2004 by women who wished to reduce the gender disparity they noticed in Oxford and further afield. The society does this by bringing inspirational female speakers to Oxford and raising the profile of those who are already here. OxWip hopes that current students will learn from the success of their predecessors, inspiring them to pursue careers in male dominated fields, including politics.
OxWip runs a range of other activities to help our members achieve their full potential. We host workshops to improve our members' skills, which will help them now and in the future. We have a mentorship scheme giving our members the chance to learn from a professional in their chosen field. We host conferences giving members the chance to explore an issue in depth over the course of a day. And we host social events giving our members the chance to meet each other and make valuable contacts.
Since in Hilary Term 2004, OxWip has expanded to include members from across Oxford as well as Oxford alumni and women from all corners of the globe. If you are interested in learning more about OxWip please contact oxwip@herald.ox.ac.uk or if you would like to join, Join here.
