Oxford Revelation Rock-Gospel Choir

Oxford Revelation Rock-Gospel Choir (Rev or OxRev for short) is a non-auditioning rock-gospel choir.  That means we get to sing what we like, but it's usually energetic or soulful, and always fun (hopefully).

OX REV IS CURRENTLY ON A BREAK - PROBABLY TO RETURN IN AUTUMN 2009 - IF YOU'D LIKE TO BE KEPT UP TO DATE, PLEASE JOIN THE MAILING LIST.

Absolutely everyone is welcome, regardless of faith, music-reading ability or even singing ability.  If you ever thought "I'd love to be in a choir, but I can't sing", we'd love to see you at one of our rehearsals.  There's no committment, so even if you have tutes on Tuesday evenings every other week, you are more than welcome to attend when you can. Equally, if you only find out about us halfway through the academic year, you don't have to wait until next October to join - just come along to the next rehearsal.

8th Week Newsletter: Sunshine and Showers!

E-mail newsletter sent by Simon Mortimore, Tuesday 10th March 2009 @ 8:38am

Salut,

8th week is finally here, the nights are getting longer, an Easter full of the last of lent, followed by crass commercialisation on a theme of new birth is just around the corner (but bunnies and chicks can be quite cute…).

TONIGHT Tuesday the 10th of March we'll be meeting for the LAST rev before Easter and to be honest almost certainly the last rev of this academic year, due to finals and other commitments. There may be one or two special events (singing in the park, busking and whatnot) next term, but we will not be meeting regularly. Next year another team is hoping to relaunch Rev in Oxford, as the national organisation is going from strength to strength. After the rehearsal we will probably go for a drink or two, if you’d like to join in…

The rehearsal will be in Exeter College Chapel. If you're not sure how to get to Exeter, go to Cornmarket (the big main shopping street) and go down the little road next to Boots the Chemist, follow the road left into TURL STREET, Exeter is now on your right, go through the large Oak door (it'll be shut but not locked) into the quad, turn left and the chapel is the massive chapel looking building in front of you.

Bestest wishes,

Simon.

7th Week Newsletter: 8 Days to go!

E-mail newsletter sent by Simon Mortimore, Monday 2nd March 2009 @ 5:02pm

Greetings Singers,

It's 7th week, meaning that you're either starting to wind down looking forward to Easter, or, more likely, the whirlwind of deadlines and tests is whipping around you. Either way, I hope you find lots to do, because THERE IS NO REV THIS WEEK.

In just over 7 days, on Tuesday the 10th of March we'll be meeting for the LAST rev before Easter. We'll have something special planned and we'll be going for drinks afterwards, so I encourage you to make a date in your diary…

5th Week Newsletter: Not this week!

E-mail newsletter sent by Simon Mortimore, Monday 16th February 2009 @ 5:00pm

Dear Rev List Member,

Just a briefly quick note to remind you NOT to go to Rev this week, because it’s not on!

We’re meeting every other week, with Sixth (24th Feb) and Eighth (10th Mar) being the remaining two rehearsals for this term.

In other news, WiM (Week in March - Rev's annual week away together at Easter ish) is fast approaching – some Oxford people are heading up for a fun-filled trip away, so if you’re interested in joining them, get in touch ASAP.

Until next time…

Simon.

4th Week Newsletter: Three to go...

E-mail newsletter sent by Simon Mortimore, Monday 9th February 2009 @ 5:09pm

Hello,

Strongly resisting any ‘fourth’ related puns, in this, the 4th week of Hillary…

As it’s an even week, that means THERE WILL BE a Revelation Rock Gospel Choir get together/rehearsal thing on TUESDAY at 7.30pm in Exeter College Chapel.

This week sees the return of most of the other members of the committee, so a more musical and structured experience is guaranteed.

Hope to see as many of you as possible – we’re half-way through the term (panic!)…

Si.
