1. Allen & Overy Drop-in Session - Thursday 7th FebruaryAllen & Overy are coming to the Duke of Cambridge for an informal chat and
drinks next THURSDAY from 3-5pm. If you have a minute, pop in and get a brochure and have a drink (they’re free!). This is a great opportunity to ask them about vac schemes or training contracts; what its like at a magic circle firm…or just come and have a drink! We hope to see you there! 2. Law for Non-lawyers presentation - Tuesday 5th February 2008 @ 6.30pmLaw is a career which welcomes all disciplines, so Addleshaw Goddard
will be coming to talk to non-lawyers about the process of entering the
profession. They will discuss the recruitment process as well as what
transferable skills are needed to become a successful lawyer. Addleshaw
Goddard will also talk about the nature of their business as a top city
law firm, which is sure to be of interest to anyone thinking of a career
in the law. A buffet will be provided.

3. Mooting Masterclass sponsored by Brick Court Chambers - Wed 6th February @ 7pmThis is a great chance to learn what mooting is all about WITHOUT THE

4. Asian Commercial Law Presentation sponsored by Jones Day - Thursday 7th February @ 6.30pmCommercial awareness: Asian legal market and future trends for 2008 Robert Thomson will be joining us from Jones Day and will present a short talk on the Asian legal market and how English qualified lawyers fit in and what the future trends are likely to be. Some good things to bring up in upcoming interviews! Robert Thomson is Partner-in-Charge of the Hong Kong Office of Jones Day. He previously headed the Firm’s international litigation practice and has been Partner-in-Charge of the Firm’s London and Sydney Offices. A light buffet will be provided.

5. Sir Trevor McDonald sponsored by Shearman & Sterlin - Friday 8th February @ 6.45pmUntil 2005, Sir Trevor McDonald was a newscaster with ITN, notable for having been the first black news anchor in the UK. Known for his clear, confident delivery and serious attitude, Sir Trevor is one of British television’s most trusted reporters. This is certainly reflected in the fact that he has won more awards than any other British broadcaster and gained knighthood in 1999. Since 2005, Sir Trevor has become associated with tabloid productions based loosely on newscasts or documentaries. Sir Trevor McDonald is most famously known for being the main face of ITV News at Ten/Ten Thirty, and recently ITV confirmed that in January 2008, McDonald will return to ITV News and ITN to present the relaunched ITV News at Ten. Please arrive at 6.45pm for a 7pm start.
