1. 6. 30PM TONIGHT: Debate - Is there a future for the Independent Bar?The Law Society is proud to introduce a completely new event to our members. Deciding between the Bar and a Solicitor’s firm is a very difficult decision to make, and one which you feel pressurised to answer quite quickly. We are delighted to welcome Barrister Jeremy Stuart-Smith QC from 4 New Square Chambers and Tim Parkes, Litigation Partner at Herbert Smith to debate the issue “Is there a future for the Independent Bar?” This will be an exciting , insightful and helpful evening for anyone who is undecided or wanting to learn more about life as a barrister or solicitor. TARIQ RAMADAN
Islam and Human Rights
Tariq Ramadan is a Muslim academic and theologian with a broad concern for the position of Islam in the modern Western world. He is Professor of Islamic Studies and Senior Research Fellow at St Antony’s College, Oxford, at Doshisha University (Kyoto, Japan), and at the Lokahi Foundation (London), and a Visiting Professor at Erasmus University, Rotterdam. He is currently President of the European Muslim Network, a Brussels-based think tank. |
