HUM week 5 additional information regarding tomorrow's religious event

E-mail sent by Seema Kavi, Tuesday, 16th February 2010 @ 4:16pm

Humchums,

Three important details that you might want/need......

(1) The title of tomorrow evening's talk is 'How many Hinduisms?'

(2) The location is now in the Pusey Room in Keble College NOT the Roy Griffiths Room... Basically, just turn up at Keble and we'll direct you to the right place.

(3) Those who come to aarti are not obliged to stay for the talk, and vice versa; those who wish to come to the talk but not aarti are also welcome. Tomorrow's talk (and aarti) is aimed at anyone interested in Hinduism, not just Hindus.

(Sorry to send two emails in one day.... HUMoverload. Sorry as well that some of you have received half a message/a message in a different language/colour; the group spaces website currently thinks HUM is a hacker and I am a virus...).

HUM...week 5 update!

*FINAL AARTI+DISCUSSION SPECIAL TONIGHT*

Ladies and Gents,

Yes, that's right, HUMSoc 2009 is coming to an end. We're sad, too.

But before we hand over to our new Committee for 2010, we would like to invite you to our *FINAL* event of the term and the year: none other than *Aarti and Discussion*. The topic for discussion tonight is 'Criticisms of Hinduism' so it should be interesting and controversial. Aarti tonight promises to be BIG. Come down and make it EVEN BIGGER. There will be *MITTHAI* as usual as well as Rubicon, soft drinks, and snacks.

So, 18:30 (try to get there on time!) at the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies on Magdalen St. (between Sainsbury's and Po Na Na).

From, very nearly for the last time,
Your HUM Committee. x

**HUM** - HUM Soc/Sikh Soc Film Night TONIGHT

E-mail sent by Sohini Dhutia, Tuesday, 1st December 2009 @ 10:59am

Hello Humlings,

It's already 8th Week and we know you've all had a hectic time this term (especially all you freshers!) so we're teaming up wit SikhSoc to bring you an evening of relaxation, filmi fun and good food!

We're going to be turning Oriel's Harris Lecture Theatre into a Bollywood cinema for the night! Come along at 7.15pm.

We'll be deciding what film to watch when you all arrive, but the 3 current favourites are...

1) RAB NE BANADI JODI
2) JAB WE MET
3) KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM

If you fancy any other movie then let us know and we'll try and arrange it, but it will be upto the audience vote on Tuesday.

We're also going to make the Seminar Room into a chillout zone for those of you who aren't big fans of Bollywood, so that you can relax and catch up everyone over a nice slice of pizza or a samosa or two. We're hoping to fill that room with a few games, etc as well, so feel free to bring mini air-hockey tables/board games etc for your entertainment..

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

**HUM** - Change of Venue

E-mail sent by Sohini Dhutia, Friday, 20th November 2009 @ 11:44am

Dear all,

The venue of the carrom competition has been changed to the Quarrell Room, Exeter College

Date: Saturday of 6th Week (21/11)
Time: 14:00-18:00
Venue: The Quarrell Room, Exeter College

Ladies and Gents,

Last year at the inaugural HUMSoc Annual Carrom Competition, we sought to find the Oxford Carrom DON.

HUMSoc Treasurer HURSH 'I don't need to aim' MEHTA powerfully stepped up to the mark and DOMINATED (though SAMEER 'I can't win, I'm Co-President' GANATRA, HUMSoc Co-Pres and esteemed runner-up, was admittedly 'going easy on him').

This year we throw open the competition once again, our boards fresh, dust-free, and 'zingy'. Come down and take on HURSH and prove yourself to be Oxford Carrom DON (MT09). There will be a PRIZE.

Alternatively, come for the REFRESHMENTS and BANTER. *BEGINNERS ARE VERY WELCOME.* We'll train you up.

Members: *FREE*
Non-members: £1

We can't wait.
