This event is in the past.
When: Monday 4th Week 7:30pm
Where: The Library at Oxford Hub 16-17 Turl St.
MathsPlus and the newly launched Hub Library invite you to join us in the Library for a cup of tea and a reflective discussion about educational inequality. Every week, volunteers visit local schools to tutor pupils in preparation for their GCSE tests. Why take this action? In 2010 Oxford ranked in the bottom 20 out of 300 UK council areas for the GCSE results achieved in its secondary schools . What kind of difference do volunteers make? Let’s chat about some statistics. Do schools kill creativity? In his TED talk, Ken Robinson says they do. Everyone welcome to join in for this earnest and open discussion.
