The Emerging Markets Series is designed to educate young entrepreneurs and professionals on the business practices and entrepreneurial culture of emerging markets. The series will comprise keynote speeches by entrepreneurial leaders, a one-day entrepreneurship boot-camp on emerging markets, regular workshops and a mentorship scheme. The Emerging Markets Series is held in partnership with the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB). The CKGSB is mainland China's first non-profit, faculty governed business school and was established in 2002 by Asia's most successful entrepreneur, Mr. Li Ka Shing.
The first speaker in the series: Frank Tang (CEO, FountainVest Partners)
Mr. Frank Tang is the CEO and Managing Partner of FountainVest Partners, a leading China-focused private equity fund.
Between May 2005 and October 2007, Mr. Tang was the Senior Managing Director of Temasek Holdings and headed its investments in China. He was a member of Temasek Holding's Senior Management Committee and Investment & Divestment Committee.
Mr. Tang was with Goldman Sachs for nearly 11 years. He started his investment banking career at Goldman Sachs in New York, and then moved to Hong Kong. Between 2000 and 2002, Mr. Tang worked as an Executive Director in Principal Investment Area, the private equity arm of Goldman Sachs. He was later Managing Director and Head of the Telecom, Media and Technology investment banking effort in Asia (ex-Japan) for Goldman Sachs prior to joining Temasek.
Mr. Tang holds an MBA from Columbia Business School. He is originally from Shanghai, China.
