3. Queen's Entrepreneurs' International Business Plan CompetitionThe Queen's Entrepreneurs' Competition (QEC) is an international business plan competition that allows undergraduate students from around the world to come together, present their innovative ideas and develop their entrepreneurial skills, with a chance to win over $25,000 in awards. The competition, which takes place annually at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, is entirely organized by undergraduate students of the Queen's School of Business. The preliminary round of the competition begins in November where teams submit business plans which are judged by qualified business professionals. The top sixteen teams are then invited to participate in the final round of the competition during a weekend in January, where they will compete for the top prize of $15,000 CDN. During the weekend, there will be a keynote speaker and competitors will also have a chance to network with the judges and other schools. Past QEC speakers have included Clive Beddoe, founder of WestJet Airlines, and Seaton McLean, founder of Alliance Atlantis. The deadline for the business plan submission is November 1st, 2008. The final competition will be held in January 22nd-24th, 2009. For more information, students can visit www.theqec.com. |
