The Grand Final of the Skolkovo Prize is TONIGHT - £15000 for Science & Technology!

Join Oxford Entrepreneurs tonight for the Final of the OE Skolkovo Prize TONIGHT at the Said Business School!


When? 7.20pm - 8.40pm, Monday 29th April 2013

Where? LT4, Saïd Business School, Park End Street

Cost: Free

Attend the Grand Final of the Oxford Entrepreneurs Skolkovo Prize, where just 4 finalists will have just 10 minutes each to present their ground-breaking ideas for scrutiny by both the audience and judges. The winning team receives a £15,000 prize, including a trip to Moscow to visit the Skolkovo Foundation. 

The Prize aims to support entrepreneurship within science and technology, and ideas cover one of the following areas: IT, Bio-Tech, Medicine Technology, Energy Efficiency, Nuclear Energy or Space Technologies. The Skolkovo Foundation is a non-profit organisation founded in 2010 by the Russian government with an objective to accelerate the transformation of Russia to a resource-intensive to an innovation-based economy. 

Our 4 finalists will each have just 5 minutes to present their innovative ideas to an audience and judges, followed by an audience-led Q&A. 

The presentations and awards ceremony will be followed by a complimentary drinks and networking reception.

Tonight: The Grand Final of Tata Idea Idol - The UK's largest student-run business idea competition - Saïd Business School 6pm-8pm

That's right, it's finally here! The Grand Final of Tata Idea Idol 2013 is tonight at the Nelson Mandela Lecture Theatre of the Saïd Business School. 

Seven shortlisted finalists will have just two minutes each to impress a formidable panel of judges with their business idea in the final of the Tata Idea Idol competition. Over 250 initial entries were reduced to 40 who each submitted a detailed 2-page executive summary of their business idea which were reviewed by a judging panel of entrepreneurs and business experts. The finalists are as follows:

  • mehome - Mihran Vardanyan; Vardan Dadoyan 
  • HealthyShrimp - Kevin Baum; Stephen Honan; Shaad Mahmud; Michael Thornton 
  • SpaceCot - Julian Jantke; Fujia Chen
  • Trinity Transfer - Reijo Pold; Amanda Cai
  • Smart Cruise - Michael Saadeh; Brad Thorson 
  • SizeGuru - Eric Sommerlade; Victor Prisacariu; Christian Lindberg
  • Virtual Patient - Katerina Spranger; Prof. Yiannis Ventikos

The judges are a formidable panel, including:

  • Gordon Sanghera (CEO of Oxford Nanopore Technologies, which has received over $100mn in funding)
  • Leo Johnson (Co-Founder of Sustainable Finance Ltd, and brother of Boris Johnson!)
  • Stuart Miller (CEO of ByBox)
  • Will Chadwick (Vice President – UK at Tata Interactive Systems)
