Dear Entrepreneurs and Aspiring Entrepreneurs, (If you did NOT previously respond)

Regardless of whether you are in the extremely early conceptualization phase, or marching towards a multi-million pound series round, please take 30 seconds to register your startup with us and help OE help you!  Concerning their endeavours, entrepreneurs are usually in supply-push mode, but there’s a whole other demand-pull world out there you might not know about.  OE often receives interest from potential investors, mentors, media, employees/interns.  They ask “Can I see what companies you are involved with?”  Please fill out the 4 question form via the link below if you think you might ever want:

1)      To be invested in

2)      To have your startup story in a blog, magazine, etc.

3)      To receive mentorship from industry specific individuals

4)      To get more team members or employees

5)      To be considered for business competitions

6)      To be considered for grants

I will not make your info public and if anyone is interested in your startup or idea, I will always ask you first if it’s Ok to make the introduction.  This is for your benefit!!!

OE Summer Incubator going strong

E-mail sent by James May, Tuesday, 13th August 2013 @ 1:27pm

We are in our sixth week of our summer incubator at the front office (Fish Bowl) of the Said Business School and I must say, it has been very beneficial for all parties involved. In collaboration with OBX, we plan to carry this on throughout the entire summer and thus have room for more interns, A-level or above.

We've been pairing talented, ambitious, young (17 - 22) interns with startups to help them with tasks such as researching competitors/potential partners, gathering contact information, and carrying out numerous other online and admin tasks. They have been extremely hard working and worthwhile and have also expressed their personal appreciation for the learning experience. Read more here.

If you'd like to be considered as an intern please email: info@obx.org.uk
If you'd like to participate in some other way, please reply to this email.

OE Summer Incubator still open to select startups

E-mail sent by James May, Monday, 22nd July 2013 @ 8:23pm

Hello entrepreneurs,

We are starting the third week of our summer incubator at the front office (Fish Bowl) of the Said Business School and I must say, it has been very beneficial for all parties involved. We plan to carry this on throughout the entire summer and thus have room for more entrepreneurs.

Also, we have brought in local mentors from various industries on an informal basis - all who offered to maintain a relationship with the startup.  We will continue to do this every other Thursday.

If you are interested in free working space, free labor, and great networking, please fill out this 6 question survey/application and someone from the programme will contact you

-  If you are a potential metnor, please reply to this email that you'd be interested in learning more.

You are invited to attend the RBS ESSA Awards day on Thursday July 4th in London where the final running order will be announced and awards presented. There will be an inter-society competition (with sponsorship opportunities and a great prize for our society and alumni) from 1:30pm followed by the Awards night where several high profile speakers, such as Ian Livingston (Founder of Games Workshop and responsible for the re-invention of Lara Croft) will announce the winners and there will be an opportunity to meet graduate recruiters on the look out for members of RBS ESSA accredited societies. Most importantly though, there will be a free bar and DJ! ;)

The Queen's Award, The Apprentice, and WIRED: OE members doing great things!

E-mail sent by James May, Sunday, 19th May 2013 @ 10:34pm

OE members, both past and present, often go on to do great things that you might not have heard about.  Although there are numerous success stories, here’s a snap shot of three:

Rajeeb Dey – Was recently honoured with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion 2013.  Rajeeb was nominated in recognition for his work to inspire young people to pursue entrepreneurial career paths, and for tackling youth unemployment in the UK.  He founded the graduate recruitment platform Enternships.com which connects students and graduates to internships and jobs within over 4500 startups and fast growing businesses. He also established Student Voice - a social enterprise working to empower school students by giving them a voice in education, as well as being a Co-Founder of StartUp Britain the national campaign to inspire, accelerate and celebrate entrepreneurship launched by the Prime Minister in March 2011. Read more.

Jordan Poulton – Jordan benefitted OE in many ways by running workshops on public speaking, teaching classes on how to pitch, and securing great speakers such as Dan Ek (Spotify) and Richard Reed (Innocent).   And now we can watch him on this season of The Apprentice, where we hear he has been the source of some excitement soon to be seen.

Owen Campbell-Moore
– A huge asset to OE by teaching our “Learn To Code This Term” workshop, Owen also focused his sterling wit to create
Secretbook - Software that enables you to send secret messages on Facebook, hide messages in photos, and protect your messages from prying eyes. Making the prestigious WIRED magazine is no easy feat, but check out the article in its entirety here.
