THURSDAY - PANEL DISCUSSION ON EUROPEAN ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Posted by Ashvir Sangha, Monday, 29th November 2010 @ 9:33am

  •  The Changing Face of European Entrepreneurship:

    Perspectives from Britain and Israel

Thursday 5.00 PM, December 2’nd, Saïd Business Business School

This panel will examine how this resurgence of, and change in,
entrepreneurship is playing out in two of Europe’s and the world’s
biggest innovation hubs, Britain and Israel.  The panellists, three
each from the UK and Israeli entrepreneurship communities, will look
at the similarities and differences involved in starting a business in
    their home markets, including:

    -          Perceptions of entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship How is
being an entrepreneur perceived in society, and how is that perception
changing?  What is the personal infrastructure for entrepreneurs like?

    -          Raising and investing capital  How efficient is the market
for early-stage capital – does money seem to be available for most
good businesses, or is there a bias in favour of certain industries or
development stages?  Is the early-stage investing community able to
adapt to changes in the face of entrepreneurship, or is it exposed to
    disruptive innovation?

    -          Location In a globalised world, how much does it matter
where you start your business?  If you’re a European entrepreneur, do
you want to get to hubs like London or Tel Aviv, or can you do just as
well from a small town.  In turn, are London and Tel Aviv even
meaningful hubs, or is Silicon Valley still the prize?  And how much
do socio-political factors—the ongoing political volatility in Israel,
and the austerity measures in the UK—affect the two countries’ ability
to remain at the head of European innovation?

The panel discussion will be followed by a wine reception

Panel Moderator: Jeff Lynn, Co-founder and CEO at Seedrs

    Israel
Tomer Dvir - Co-Founder and CEO, Soluto (recent TechCrunch Disrupt winners)
Guy Rosen - Co-Founder and CEO, Vircado
Ohad Shperling - Associate, Carmel Ventures
    UK
Rachel Armitage - Co-Founder and Director, Zoombu
    David Langer - Co-Founder & CEO, GroupSpaces
Ville Lehoten – CEO at LabMinds
