Welcome back (or welcome for the first time!) to a new academic year at Oxford. As usual, we'll be holding meditation classes every Tuesday of term, from 8pm in the JCR Annex of Oriel College. The classes offer an introductory course in a form of Thai-Theravada breathing-mindfulness meditation (Samatha-Vipassana--read more at www.samatha.org), followed by a brief discussion of the practice and Buddhist thought more generally, followed by tea and biscuits and a chance to discuss your practice with the teacher in private. You don't need any experience to join, you can join at any time, and there's no charge for the teaching.
People of all backgrounds are welcome to come. Some are experienced meditators, some are people just looking for a way of easing the stress of an Oxford term, and many fall somewhere in between.
It's a good idea to bring a cushion to sit on, comfortable clothes to sit in, and a mug if you want tea.
In addition to the weekly meditation classes, we'll hold occasional speaker events, socials, and that sort of thing. Announcements to come!
