About this group
Oxford University Triathlon Club is an inclusive club which welcomes individuals of all abilities, from beginners that can barely swim to fully fledged international atheletes. We welcome both students and staff members of the University, as well as a small number of external members with ties to the University.
The club tries to reach out to beginners in particular and no experience is necessary to get involved in the club. Everyone is able to benefit from our training schedule, including an ASA accredited swim coach, and our great social scene.
For those of you that are unfamiliar with the sport, triathlon is one of THE most up and coming Olympic sports in the UK, with many thousands of people racing every year. It consists of swimming, cycling and running. The club mainly competes over sprint distance (750m swim / 20km cycle / 5km run), although individual members compete over longer distances as well, all the way up to the infamous ironman.
Each year the club competes in several races, both triathlons in the summer and duathlons (run/bike/run) in the winter. We enter the British Universities championships for both, but the high point of the year for many of our athletes is competing against Cambridge in the annual triathlon Varsity Match, where athletes also get the chance to earn a full or half blue.
I look forward to seeing you all at training soon!
