Parking: is available for guests staying at the lodge with lots of room for your vehicles, although carpooling is always advisable to save on gas.
SAFETY: Please note that there are still bears around this time of year and Fireside Lodge has a strict policy regarding people sleeping in their vehicles in the parking lot (not allowed). Also, please do not leave food in your vehicles and be careful when loading and unloading supplies from your vehicle.
FIREPLACE:The lounge area has a wood-burning fireplace, but can only be lit and monitored by Fireside members. There are 4 VOCW members who are also Fireside members (2 may be attending).
CHECK IN/OUT: Check in time on Friday is 3 pm and check out time on Sunday has been extended to 1200 AM, however you must clear your bed space by 1100 AM. THE LUGGAGE LIFT: NOT CURRENTLY WORKING, it is 3 flights of stairs to the entranceway so be prepared!
ACCESS:You will be issued a card for the front door and room key (for private room) upon arrival.
WHERE ARE YOU SLEEPING: Members of the executive will post the bed assignment chart at the front desk so you can easily find your bed/room.
WHAT TO BRING? BEDDING-bring sheets and pillow cases/TOWELS/FOOTWEAR:Please bring comfortable inside shoes or slippers as you will need to leave your outside footwear on the shelves in the lobby. The beds all have comforters, pillows and blankets are also available. You may bring your own sleeping bag or duvet if desired. Group rates do not include linen.
KITCHEN INFO: There is a large kitchen with 3 stoves and 6 fridges.
Please store food in the plastic bins provided (located on the top of the fridges) to store your fridge food. Label your bin with your name (markers and tape-located on the fridge doors).
Non-perishable food items can be stored in the pantry, located just off the kitchen area. There is a large supply of plastic bins with lids for your use. As we are a large group, please only store items in the fridge that need to be refrigerated. Also, there is a fridge in the pantry room off the kitchen for beverages. Please use this fridge as it saves room in the main fridges. Label your beverages.
· The kitchen area has large tables and lots of seating for your use and there is also a large outdoor patio with a covered BBQ area accessible from the kitchen area.
· Please keep the kitchen area clean.You are expected to wash, dry and put away your dishes and keep the counters clean. Clean dishtowels if needed are located in a lower cupboard to right of the sink area.
· The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans, baking dishes, serving plates, dishes, cups, mugs, utensils etc. and there are 2 microwaves and 2 or 3 coffee pots etc.
· Please do not keep any food or beverages in the room. Water at the bedside is OK, but we like to keep the rooms as clean as possible.
SATURDAY NIGHT POTLUCK! Time to be posted by executive members in attendance.
SOCIAL SPACE: There is a large lounge area with couches and tables so bring your games, music, books etc.
Games room: off the lobby (also accessible from the lounge area), which has a pool table, ping pong table and fuse ball table.
Dry sauna: located on the lower level around the hall from the lobby. Please note that this is a dry sauna. Water will damage the system. Please ask staff or someone to help you if needed. Basically turn the dial and let it warm up for about 20 minutes.
QUIET HOURS: Please respect the Fireside Lodge hours of 11PM. Although, we have booked the lodge as a group, there are staff members who sleep in the staff quarters in the lower part of the lodge. Also, many of our members like to get to bed early as setting out early for planned events.
What to do while in Whistler:
There are many wonderful walks and hikes etc. to experience in Whistler. There will be a sign up board available for those wishing to lead or participate in the various activities.
