The Oxford University Strategic Studies Group (OUSSG) was founded over thirty-five years ago as a non-partisan society devoted to the examination of contemporary strategic and international affairs. Its main feature is a weekly seminar, which is given by distinguished men and women from the diplomatic, military, political, intelligence, academic, business and media fields.

OUSSG Trinity Term Week 6 - Strategy as a Balancing Act: The UK's Dilemma

Capt. Jeff Davis of the United States Navy, currently also St. Antony’s College Hudson Fellow, regrettably had to cancel his talk on ‘U.S. Post-modern Air Power: Bosnia to Iraq’.

In its place, Professor Hew Strachan (Senior member of the OUSSG Committee, Chichele Professor of the History of War, Fellow of All Souls College, and Director of the Leverhulme Programme on the Changing Character of War) is giving a talk entitled ‘Strategy as a Balancing Act: The UK’s Dilemma’.

OUSSG Executive Elections - voting deadline

Elections for the executive positions of OUSSG President, Vice-President and Secretary are underway. The Ballot closes on Tuesday 12 February 2008 (5th week) and the voting deadline is 6pm by email/pidge or 10pm for those returning their vote by hand at the 5th week seminar (Dr Wendy Pullan’s talk).

Profiles and ballot papers have been sent out to members via email and the committee would like to encourage all members to vote.

Please direct any queries about the election or about voting to the current President, Andrea Baumann, or Secretary, Anne Rimmer. See further details of the election for full schedule information.

The new committee will run OUSSG from Trinity 2008 until the end of Hilary 2009.
