Dear Members,
Just to let you know the Middle East Society is having its second event of the
term this Monday (23rd October). Clare Short is speaking on "Justice in the
Middle East - the key to international progress." She will be taking questions
from the audience afterwards.
Clare Short quit her cabinet position of Secretary of State for International
Development in 2003 over the Iraq war. Since then she has maintained her
fierce criticism of the prime minister for his role in taking the country into
Iraq and even going so far as to demand his resignation.
This week she resigned from the Labour Party and is now presenting herself as
an independent candidate.
