Oxford will again be competing in the British University Karting Championship, hoping to improve upon our best-ever 5th place finish last season, after being coached by newly appointed BRDC Director of Superstars, Tim Harvey. Teams have already been finalised, and emails will be sent to those who have taken part in a BUKC testday shortly.

It's our favourite time of the year - Tab bashing!
7th week sees CUAC host the annual varsity karting race at Rye House in Hoddesdon, with Oxford hoping to retain our title from the last four years.
The race will be held on the brand new University Championship karts (see above). The race format will consist of a 20 minute practice, a 5 minute qualifying session and finally a 60 minute endurance race. Teams will be made up of 2 drivers, with winning team having completed the most laps in the allocated time taking the honours for their University.
We will be leaving Oxford at 11:30am returning around 6pm. The total cost for the day will be £60, which includes transport, equipment hire and, of course, the kudos of beating the tabs. This offers the best value competitive racing you can participate in whilst at university. In order to take part in the event, you must have previous karting experience.
To enter, please email cameron.noble@exeter.ox.ac.uk - a deposit of £30 is required by Friday of 5rd week (15th Feb) to be pidged to Cameron Noble at Exeter.
Karting is now a half-blue sport. Up to four drivers can recieve half-blues by finishing on the podium of the Varsity Race.

Whether you're Peter Perfect or Penelope Pitstop, Cuppers Karting is your chance to show some college pride.
You'll be racing at the infamous Klub Kart circuit in Aylesbury: The Monaco of Karting tracks; tight, twisty and challenging, but minus the champagne, hotels, celebrities, yachts, and glamour. However, most importantly, it's VERY good fun.
Teams of 4 will race in a 2 hour endurance race, with 20 minutes practice and qualifying beforehand. Whoever puts in the most laps wins.
The race will be held on Tuesday 26 February (6rd Week), with transport from Oxford leaving at 6pm, aiming to be back in Oxford by 11pm. The cost is just £40 for members of OUMDC and £45 for non-members (this includes transport, kart and equipment hire). Deposits of £20 per driver or £80 per team must be sent to Richard Wootten at St Peters college before Friday of 4th week to guarantee your place. All cheques should be made payable to 'OUMDC'.
Don’t worry if you can’t get a team together from your college, just email richard.wootten@spc.ox.ac.uk who will put you in a team. Complete four man college teams should also email Rich to book their place.
Last year's event was very close, with ten Colleges competing in an action packed race. No experience necessary, so get your teams in now!

OUMDC will be holding the annual Drivers Cup competition at Rye House in Hoddesdon. This is the perfect opportunity for those drivers who have previous racing experience or have completed a BUKC testday to race in the brand new Club 100 karts featuring new race-tuned Birel chassis, capable of 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and tops speeds of over 60 mph. Race format is 10 minutes open practice, 5 minutes qualifying, 2x15 minute heats, with the grid for race 2 being the reverse of race 1. The day culminates with a 15 minute final, the grid being decided on the combination of finishes from the heats.
Event is limited to 17 drivers but places are already filling up fast. We will be leaving Oxford around 11.30am, returning by 6pm. Cost is £100 including transport and equipment hire. This represents better value for money than racing in the British University Karting Championship (BUKC). It's perfect practice for Varsity…

Next Tuesday evening we are giving you the chance to show your stuff in the sport where F1 Championship contenders such as Lewis Hamilton learned their trade.
We will be meeting at 5.45pm outside the Taylor Institute on St. Giles. The coach leaves no later than 6pm, so do be sharp! We are racing at the Klubkart Indoor Circuit in Aylesbury, an exciting and demanding track where we have had many successful events before.
Upon arrival we will be kitted up and receive a safety briefing. Every driver will have 5 mins Practice/Qualifying before engaging in a 2-Hour Endurance Race in teams of 4.
This fantastic event is £37 for OUMDC members and £42 for non-members, which includes all equipment hire and transport, and each driver gets about 35 mins track time. Yearly membership to the club is £8 (which you may purchase on the night); this entitles you to discounts on events later in the year, including Cuppers Karting and Indoor Skidiving, so it is definitely worth considering.
If you would like to race, please email cameron.noble@exeter.ox.ac.uk. You may submit a team of 4 drivers, or we can put you in a team (if you are a party of 1-3) as well as mixing experienced drivers with the not-so-experienced to keep the teams fair. Places are limited, so please let us know as soon as possible if you would like to race!

Welcome to the Oxford University Motor Drivers Club. In case you have forgotten, at Freshers Fair we had the large banner asking: "WANT TO GO KARTING?". Over 200 of you fancy the idea, so we expect this year to be a very good one for potential drivers. Whether you are a complete beginner or a veteran racer, all are welcome as karting requires no previous driving experience at all!
We are holding our Freshers Drinks meeting at 7pm on Monday 2nd week, in the Saskatchewan Room @ Exeter College (it will be easy to find, Exeter is small and there will be hints). All Freshers are welcome to come, where seasoned OUMDC members will be around to talk about the clubs activities over a couple of drinks. We should also be announcing details of this term's first race, so watch this space…
You will also have the chance to become a member of the club - yearly membership is just £8, and will entitle you to discounts on many of our events. With so much interest in the sport this year, it promises to be worth your while coming along, so don't miss out!
