1925 saw the birth of a man who would become a legend in his own time and an enduring symbol of resistance against injustice in ours.
This talk charts the life story of the man who, more than any other, changed the outlook of millions of oppressed black people living in the slums of the USA in the 1950's and 1960's. Vilified by his critics as a racist demagogue, he gave a voice to unheard African-Americans, bringing them pride, hope and fearlessness, and remains an inspirational, yet controversial figure to this day.
Many have borne witness to his remarkable life story, charting his ascent from the lowest scum of society to becoming the greatest political figure of his time.
Do you know this man? If not, it's time you did.
The presentation will be followed by an informal discussion session and
refreshments will be provided free of charge.
