The Greek Society first registered with the University Proctors in 1968. There are no records from that period, but it is presumed that it did not have many members, as there were not many Greeks or Cypriots studying in Oxford at that time. In recent years, the Greek Society has been one of the most prominent societies in the University.
It has hosted talks by prominent Greek academics, like Professor Manolis Andronikos, and politicians, like the conservative (now ex) Mayor of Athens Dimitris Avramopoulos or the social-democrat MP Theodoros Pangalos.
