In 1997 Jennifer Murray entered the Guinness Book of Records as the first woman to circumnavigate the globe in a helicopter, using the feat to raise over $100,000 for Save the Children. This has been followed by more record breaking achievements: 2000 – another place in the Guinness Book of Records for flying around the world at a record breaking speed; 2004 - a Gambian postage stamp issued in her honour; 2005 induction into the Rhode Island Aviation Hall of Fame; and, as of May 2007, a new world record as one of two pilots to fly around the world via the North and South Poles.
