Dear Intrepid Members

This term, to raise your spirits at this rather depressing time of year, we will be embarking on an uplifting church crawl (included in which will likely be a pub crawl for those of you who are inspired by other types of spirits).
Hosted by tour guide/expert extraordinaire, Martin Henig, the trip will be in Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire, so not too much driving involved. Included will be Langford, a late Anglo-Saxon church with carvings, the Medieval church at Fairford, Quenington with its Anglo-Saxon decorations and North Leigh Medieval church (plus bonus look at North Leigh Roman villa).

The plan will be to take the mini bus from the Institute around 10am on Saturday March 3rd, returning late afternoon. We will happily motor around the various churches in a leasurely fashion and there may be others to add, time permitting. You can bring a packed lunch if you like, but a warm pub lunch option will be fitted into the itinerary. Places on the minibus are limited but anyone who wants to take a car and follow is more than welcome. The cost for minibus travellers will be around £10 and for anyone following I will simply ask for optional donations to the society.

If you could please answer asap and certainly by Friday 23 February that would be great. I will then send out another email confirming the details and the cost (and it's pay on the day, as usual).

All best
Toria
