Topic:  The Challenges of Humanitarian Intervention:  Why has military intervention for humanitarian purposes proven so problematic in the past and what lessons should we learn for the future?  

Together with the Oxford Aegis Society and as part of the revered OxHub series we are welcoming: Clare Short, Former International Development Secretary, who left the Blair Cabinet over the Iraq war; Richard Caplan, expert on Humanitarian Intervention, Ethno-nationalist Conflict and Conflict Management; Henry Shue, expert in International Normative Theory; and Jochen Prantl, expert on Conflict Prevention and Multilateralism. There will be a question and answer session.  Drinks and nibbles provided.
