7th Round 2006 SSSprint British Gravity Sports Championship

Posted by Ding Boston , Thursday 9th November @ 3:02pm

Possibly the last round of the 2006 SSSprint British Gravity Sports Championship, the meeting is planned to include rounds of the following British Championships running concurrently at the meeting (provided there are sufficient entrants):

2006 SSSprint British Street Luge Championship
2006 SSSprint British Classic Luge Championship
2006 SSSprint British Stand Up Championship
2006 SSSprint British Gravity Bike Championship

Alongside the above, we operate the world's only 'Street Luge Training programme' which enables those who have never tried the sport (and have neither kit nor luge), to borrow all the necessary equipment for the day and see what it's like. These 'Taster Days' are very popular and are how most of the UKs top riders started in the sport.

The meeting this Sunday (postponed from 22nd October) will be held at the new venue at Chipping Campden, which is a private drive, and approx. 800 metres long and ideal for beginners.

Transport will be leaving from the front of Brookes Gypsy Lane campus at 8.30 sharp on Sunday morning.
Scrutineering will be at 10am. on the Hill.

Entries are still invited from all racers, in all disciplines, and for the one remaining Taster Day slot.
Anyone who would like to spectate/time/help out on the Hill is welcome (contact me by email or on the number below asap).

RAG Charity Fund Raising Bungee Jump - next Saturday 28th October

Posted by Ding Boston , Monday 23rd October @ 7:01pm

Open to all, this is a chance to experience the outrageous thrill of bungee jumping - and to do it for free if you help RAG raise money for charity! - right here in Oxford, at the Riverside Park (next to Oxford Ice Rink). This will be the 28th such event that the Oxford Stunt Factory has held with OUCRAG over the past 14 years, and these exciting days have so far raised over £70000 for good causes.
If you need reassurance…!
All novice jumpers will be jumping 'back attached' (feet, rather than head first) in a full body harness, so its comfortable (no hanging around upside down!), very secure, and there's no missing either the fantastic view of the dreaming spires from 180 feet, or the amazing 'ground rush' that follows!
The OSF is the UK's oldest bungee club, is BERSA certified, and its members engineered the 'GoldenEye' Bond film stunt - so you couldn't be in better hands to try this unique sport - and a great personal challenge.

James Bond's 'GoldenEye'.... Bungee Stunt - Thursday 12th October - 6pm

Posted by Ding Boston , Wednesday 11th October @ 2:29pm

Ding Boston led the Oxford Stunt Factory team who engineered this record breaking bungee jump down the concrete face of the 750 foot Versazca Dam in Switzerland - and he will be leading the OSF team for the RAG charity fund-raising bungee here in Oxford on the 28th October. He will be giving some background and telling the story of how this spectacular stunt was realised - flatteringly voted the 'Greatest Ever Movie Stunt' in a nationwide poll by Sky - accompanied by video footage, diagrams and equipment used in the film. Afterwards there will also be a chance to sign up for the few remaining places at the RAG jump!
