E-mail sent by Member 205eff5, Sunday, 4th June 2017 @ 4:55pm

Dear all,

As is our custom in week 7 of term, we will have a meal before the main meeting this coming Friday. This term we'll be going to Noodle Nation on Gloucester Green, meeting at 6.30. The main meeting will be at Exeter College at 8 PM in the Saskatchewan Room as usual.

Feel free to come to just the meal or just the main meeting if you can make one or the other but not both. If you would like to come to the meal please say so by emailing oxanimevision@gmail.com, or by commenting on the relevant Facebook post, by 7 PM on Wednesday (I'm busy this week and am not promising to add anyone to the table booking after that deadline).

All best,

Daniel

Dear all,

Oxford Anime Vision meetings are ticking over as normal at 8 PM in the Saskatchewan Room every Friday to the end of term (so our last meeting will be on Friday 16 June). Tomorrow we'll be having an extra episode of Samurai Champloo, to make sure we can fit it into the year (this will be the last time we double up on a show this year).

Also, a couple of bits of anime film news relevant to the UK which I wanted to pass on:

1. In This Corner of the World, a new anime film, is being shown in the UK on 28–29 June, if anyone fancies going to see that. I know many of us will have left Oxford for the summer by then: you can search for a location here and that site will find the nearest screenings. The film's going to be shown at three different cinemas in Oxford.

2. The anime film A Silent Voice, which had some screenings in the UK in February/March, is now available for digital purchase in the UK on various platforms: more details here. This is only a week or two after the film was released on bluray in Japan, so it's an encouragingly early UK release. There will be a UK bluray release in the future.

All best,

Daniel

Hello everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful vacation/Easter, and that even if you have exams this term, the thought of getting together to watch some anime heartens you. I'm pleased to say that we have the Saskatchewan Room in Exeter College booked for every week this term, so this is just a reminder that the first meeting of term will be in the Saskatchewan Room in Exeter College from 8PM to 11PM this Friday 28th April.

I look forward to seeing many of you there!

HT Week 7 (Randomthon and Social!)

E-mail sent by a GroupSpaces user, Tuesday, 28th February 2017 @ 11:41pm

Hello everyone,

As I said in my previous message, we will be having our annual Randomthon this Sunday (5th March) in the Saskatchewan Room at Exeter College from 3PM to 7PM. At this event we will be showing 8 1st episodes of different shows, and although this will be a fun and highly varied experience in itself, it's important to note that these shows will form part of the pool from which we will form the lineup for the next academic year. However, this pool will also include series that we have showed a considerable amount of time ago, as well as the series that we random each week, but this is still a useful way of gauging what everyone would like to see next year.

The shows we are planning to random are:

March Comes in Like a Lion
Natsume's Book of Friends
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
Orange
FLCL
Time of Eve
+ 1 Mystery Title

We will be showing these using our usual 2 episodes/10 min Break/2 episodes/10 min Break etc. format, so please feel free to come for as many of these as you would like.

As you may have already seen, before our normal meeting this week on Friday, we will be having a social meal at Taberu on Cowley Road at 6PM, so if you've put your name down for this on the Facebook post, I look forward to seeing you there!

Best wishes,

Felix

I hope you are all having a good week and to see many of you at the meeting tomorrow!

I hope you are all having a good week, I can't believe we're already halfway through the term! I am pleased to announce the details of two events we will be having in the coming weeks. Firstly, this Sunday from 3pm to 7pm in the Saskatchewan Room in Exeter College we will be having a film screening of two films: Miss Hokusai and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. Details are below, please feel free to come to one or both if you please. Apologies for the short notice with this, it took us a while to find out when we could get the room from Exeter.

Dear all,

I hope the term is going well for everyone, nothing to report this week except that we are meeting this Friday at 8PM at Exeter as usual. We may be having a 'Randomthon' at some point in the next few weeks, which is an annual event where we watch a bunch of random episodes (1st episodes of different shows) in order to help work out which shows we will be watching next year, as well as a potential film night, so keep your ears peeled for those!

First I am happy to say that for this term, we have confirmed that we will be having our regular weekly meetings at Exeter College in the Saskatchewan Room on Fridays from 8PM to 11PM. The first of these will be next Friday (20th January), I look forward to seeing many of you there!

Also, Daniel has put a post in the Facebook group today about a screening of Mamoru Oshii's original 1995 Ghost in the Shell film at 9PM on Wednesday 25th January (Wednesday of Week 2) at The Phoenix Picturehouse on Walton Street in Jericho, just north of the city centre. The screeening will have Japanese audio with English subtitles. Please declare your interest on this post if you would like to go.

E-mail sent by a GroupSpaces user, Tuesday, 29th November 2016 @ 11:18am

Dear all,

Thank you all so much for coming to the meetings this term, I hope you've all had fun even if you've been to just one meeting! I just wanted to say that this week we are in Exeter College, Saskatchewan Room from 8PM to 11PM as usual, and that this is the last week of term for Oxford students, so this week will be our last regualar meeting for a while. The meetings will resume at the beginning of next term, provisionally the date of the first meeting next term should be 20th January.

I hope you all have a good week!

This will be on Friday from 8PM to 11PM as usual. Secondly we are having a meal before the meeting this week, this will be at 6PM on Friday at Taberu, which is a Japanese restaurant on Cowley Road. If you would like to attend this meal, please sign up on the relevant post on our Facebook page or send an email to oxanimevision@gmail.com by midday on Tuesday.

MT Week 6

E-mail sent by a GroupSpaces user, Wednesday, 16th November 2016 @ 9:58am

Dear all,

I hope you're all having a good week. I just wanted to remind everyone that we are having our regular meeting in the Queen's College, Lecture Room B this week. The meeting will still run from 8PM - 11PM on Friday, and we will have someone at the entrance to the college on the High Street to guide everyone in. May I also remind everyone that Queen's appreciate it if we take everyone into the college in large groups rather than one by one, so I would encourage you all to arrive slightly before 8 so that we can do so. Here is the location of the college on Google Maps:

Dear all,

I hope you are all having a good week! I just wanted to remind everyone that we are having TWO normal meetings this week, one on Friday and one on Sunday, both in the Saskatchewan Room in Exeter College from 8PM to 11PM. This is to catch up on our regular series that we are showing as we missed our normal meeting in 3rd week due to the projector malfunctioning.

Best wishes,

MT Week 4/5

E-mail sent by a GroupSpaces user, Saturday, 5th November 2016 @ 10:05am

Dear all,

Thanks everyone for being at the meeting last night! Thankfully the projector is working again now, so we don't have to become an ice cream club sandwich.

So to recap:

-This week we watched the third episodes of the series we are watching.

-Tom has booked the Saskatchewan Room for this Sunday and the next.

-This Sunday (the 6th), we will have a film night in the Saskatchewan Room, starting at 8PM. We will be watching Millennium Actress, which is an award-winning 2001 film from the visionary director Satoshi Kon, a reflective, part-comic exploration of the life of a fictional actress, and in some ways a love letter to cinema itself. We will also watch a few miscellaneous items before the film to make the evening more rounded.

-We will meet as normal next Friday to watch the fourth episodes of each series, and then on Sunday 13th we will have an extra session from 8PM to 11PM to watch the fifth episodes of each series and thus ketchup on our schedule.

For those who are interested, the random episode last night was the first episode of Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha.

Have a great weekend everybody!

Best wishes,

Felix

Week 4

E-mail sent by Member 205eff5, Thursday, 3rd November 2016 @ 8:59pm

Dear all,

We will be meeting as normal tomorrow at 8 PM in the Saskatchewan Room. All being well, we will watch the episodes we would have watched last week. We're hoping that the projector has been sorted out (if it hasn't, we'll just have to carry on being an ice cream club).

We've also booked the room for 8–11 PM next Sunday (6 Nov) and Sunday week (13 Nov), so we should have options for catching up:
as soon as we have any certainty about the projector we will pick one of these for an extra meeting and let you know about it. Sorry if these times don't suit everyone: to an extent we have to take the times when we can get the room. Longer term we're also exploring some backup options beyond Exeter just in case.

Best wishes,

Daniel

Update

E-mail sent by Member 205eff5, Friday, 28th October 2016 @ 10:46pm

As those who came will know, we had to call the meeting tonight off because the projector at Exeter has a filter issue.

1. Sorry! Occasionally these things happen: projectors are fickle beasts.

2. Do not worry about keeping up: we will make sure that we show all of the episodes we would have watched this week the next time we meet, whether that's by using the sixth slots in our meetings, having an extra showing or coming up with some other wheeze. If anyone does miss a meeting that actually happens, you can always ask us to supply you with the material you missed.

3. We don't yet know whether the projector will be working again next Friday. The committee will try to put a backup plan in place in case it isn't, and we will keep you informed so you know where to go next week.

All best,
Daniel
OAV Secretary

Dear all,

Nothing special to report really this week, except that our meeting will be on Friday at 8PM in the Saskatchewan Room in Exeter College, just as last week. We will have someone outside the front of Exeter again up until 8PM to help guide people to the room in case you don’t know/are not sure where it is.

Looking forward to seeing many of you there on Friday, have a great week everyone!
