Not/But Productions presents:
The Goat, or Who is Sylvia?
(Notes towards a definition of tragedy)
by Edward Albee
Old Fire Station Theatre, George Street, Oxford
7.30pm Tuesday-Saturday
(2.30 matinee on Saturday)
4th Week Michaelmas 2007
(October 30th - November 3rd)
It's about relationships, and involves a goat…
Albee's latest play is both comic and deeply tragic, exploring the social limitations placed on love and what happens when they are broken.
Set in the home of Martin and Stevie, affluent New Yorkers with a gay son, Billy. Martin is at the peak of his career, but when his old friend Ross comes to interview him for a TV programme ‘People Who Matter,’ Martin eventually confides in Ross that he is deeply in love with and having an affair with Sylvia, who is a goat…
A darkly comic tragedy, Albee's latest play, was winner of 2002 Tony Award for Best Play and nominated for Best New Play at the 2005 Olivier awards.
