News: Casinos in Denmark are growing, and in the Netherlands casinos are fined for underground gambling

According to information from the gambling regulator of Denmark, Spillemyndigheden, in 2019, the online casino industry has shown significant growth rates. Thus, according to available information, licensed participants in the Danish market report a profitability of $ 952.3 million - this figure is 2% higher when compared with information for 2018.


The profitability level of online casino operators increased by 8.1%, up to 2.3 billion kroons. But betting is losing money - in comparison with the previous period, financial results decreased by 1%, to the level of 2.5 billion kroons. Revenues from operations with slot machines were also reduced - a fall of 2%, while in the land-based casino industry, indicators decreased by 1.6%.


According to the results of the 4th quarter of 2019, the dominant vertical is sports betting. The indicator reached the level of 621 million kroons - this is 6% lower than the data for 2018. The second place in terms of income - online casino operators, 573 million kroons. The level of vertical income of slot machines showed a decline of 6.8%, to the level of 329 million kroons.


In 2019, gambling mobile games dominate the gambling market. 48% of the revenue was obtained, first of all, thanks to mobile gambling, but only 34.2% of the bets were received at ground-based bets.


In the Netherlands casinos are fined for underground gambling 

KSA - the regulator of gambling from the Netherlands, focuses on the land segment of the gambling business. So, the fine for the use of unauthorized slot machines reaches almost 100 thousand euros.

Not so long ago, a fine was imposed on Speelautomatenhal Schinveld B.V., as a result of which it turned out that the operator had placed the equipment in an entertainment center. Investigators visited the facility and found out the violation.


Additionally, the company was fined 86.5 thousand euros and was deprived of equipment, which was subsequently sold to the operator, which has the necessary license.


The regulator imposed another fine on the company that placed the slot machines in Amstendam with an expired license.


In total, for the period of 2019, 10 fines were imposed on operators, with a total amount of 3.5 million euros.
