Japanese prefecture Wakayama said it plans to host one of the integrated resorts on its territory. It is known that the regional authorities have already prepared an action plan that is aimed at counteracting the development of gambling addiction.
Public discussion of the issue and consultations will be held until March 27. Prior to this, the government announced that it continues to work on the “IR-map” initiative, the main task of which is to minimize the risks that, one way or another, are associated with the legalization of gambling. This project was developed specifically for the Japanese, who want to join the gambling entertainment that will be offered in integrated resorts.
In addition to introducing the “IR-map” system, it is planned that the prefectural authorities will create several specialized bodies that will carry out educational work, which, in turn, will provide an opportunity to form a healthy attitude to gambling as an entertainment. Additionally, the prefecture will provide the necessary assistance to those who already have a gambling addiction.
Meanwhile, by the end of March, the authorities will complete the acceptance of proposals for choosing a partner for the construction of a casino resort. And in 2021, local authorities will have to submit an application for placement of an integrated resort on their territory. Additionally, the task of local authorities is to create an effective set of measures that will minimize risks, which, one way or another, are related to gambling, so that the national government comprehensively approaches the issue.
Philippines Casino Prospects
The Philippines, despite the proliferation of coronavirus throughout the globe, is reporting on the current state of affairs. In particular, local gambling facilities continue to be temporarily closed - a similar situation is observed in Macau and Slovenia. However, despite the circumstances, the regulator and state operator of the Philippines continues to remain optimistic, predicting a significant increase in GGR compared to last year.
According to local authorities, this year GGR will reach $ 5.69 billion, even despite the situation surrounding the spread of the virus. But last year, over the same period, indicators reached $ 4.86 billion.
But independent experts do not share the optimism of the authorities and report that, most likely, the situation around the spread of the dangerous virus will seriously affect the country's gambling industry. It is also known that the country has not yet switched to quarantine and has not stopped the operation of gambling facilities, but, despite this, the country has a fairly large number of victims of the disease.
Additionally, the country's authorities closed the entrance to the country from Macau, Hong Kong and China, which contributes to a drop in traffic in local gambling establishments.
