We're looking for dedicated and enthusiastic actors who can sing to take part in Musicals of Oxford's latest show! We'll need you to prepare a musical theatre song for the audition, and we'll also ask you to read a short monologue which you'll have a chance to look over just before the audition. When it was first produced in 1970, Stephen Sondheim¹s COMPANY was a breakthrough in musical theatre. The first of his concept musicals, the show daringly rejects traditional plot techniques in favour of a striking exploration of the theme of commitment. Accompanied by some of Sondheim's finest music and his typically smart and edgy lyrics, COMPANY both builds upon and reacts against the classic shows of Broadway's Golden Age; one critic called it a wonderful musical score, the one that Broadway has long needed. Foregrounding the show's darker aspects, but with a pop-art twist, this promises to be an exciting and dynamic production of Sondheim's award-winning musical.
