We are a team of people who are passionate about making a difference to local, national and international health. Our vision is of a world without the factors, such as inequality and inadequate education, that lead to poor health and, therefore, unnecessary suffering.

In order to achieve this we empower enthusiastic people to make a difference through involvement in projects, campaigns and other Medsin activities.

You DO NOT have to be a medical student to be involved with Medsin!! Global health touches on areas of many disciplines including politics, economics, sociology, anthropology, medical sciences to name a few. If YOU have an interest in global health WE want to hear from you!

Medsin has a number of various affiliated Projects and Campaigns. Most of these Projects and Campaigns also exist on a national level as well as at individual branches. We currently have 15 Projects and Campaigns affiliated with Medsin Bristol. Medsin Bristol organises events thorughout the year such as film showings, speaker evenings, conferences and discussions. The projects associated with Medsin Bristol also host a number of events throughout the year. We produce a Medsin Bristol eNewsletter and our very own magazine 'Health and Humanity'.

Coutesy of IMDB:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0388789/plotsummary

''Admist the apparent growing prosperity of India, there is a dark underbelly of poverty of another side of the nation that is little known. This film is a chronicle of filmmakers Zana Briski and Ross Kauffman's efforts to show that world of Calcutta's red light district. To do that, they inspired a special group of children of the prostitutes of the area to photograph the most reluctant subjects of it. As the kids excel in their new found art, the filmmakers struggle to help them have a chance for a better life away from the miserable poverty that threatens to crush their dreams.''.
