Leeds Bright Futures

About this group

Bright Futures is uniquely careers-focused national student society at the University of Leeds.

We focus on helping our student members maximise their employability skills by giving them insights into organisations enabling them to make informed career choices. We also aim to provide networking events and help our members build key skills and commercial awareness through skill workshops with employers. In order to do this we work with a range of global firms in different industries. A full list of all firms from many sectors is available at the following address: www.brightfutures.co.uk/who-we-work-with/clients.html

What will members benefit from?

  • The chance to meet a range of firms inlcuding blue chip companies that do not usually visit Leeds University and local firms from across Yorkshire

  • The opportunity to network with employers in informal environments such as drinks or over dinner

  • The opportunity to attend skill focused workshops to improve your employability and grab the essential skills that employers demand

  • Attend company presentations and find out more about what companies do

  • First refusal from our events before they are open to the rest of the university

  • Access to exclusive Bright Futures online webinars (seminars on the web) and regular Emag with articles from our graduate recruiters

  • Invitations to National Bright Futures Events and the chance to take part in National Competitions

  • Apply for jobs knowing you’ve got the best chance

What makes us different?

We are different from other societies and the career centre as we are a part of a national organisation which gives us access to better resources and a wider range of corporate contacts. This also gives us a broader view of the graduate market and what employers want. We work with the career centre and other societies to ensure we bring in different companies that are not normally seen around campus from a range of industries. We also hold new fresh and unique events in informal environments. As each society is run by students we know what students want in terms of advice, jobs and events. We also get to determine (with member input) what companies and information you would like at an event. This tailored approach makes us much more appealing to student needs.

Hi all below is a message from SIFE Leeds, Consulting You project.

SIFE Leeds is looking for new members for its ‘Consulting You’ project.
If you have a head for business and a heart for the world, then this is the project for you.

Consulting You offer free services to Social Enterprises, Small Medium Enterprise’s, Charities and Community Organisations. In the past we have aided businesses with market research, revenue generation, customer awareness and market strategy.

We are looking for students from all backgrounds that can add value to the team with unique ideas and specific skills. You will need to be reliable and committed to the project and the clients we work with and have a professional manner at all times. You will also need to be able to build trusting relationships with clients with comprehensive communication skills. You will have to work to deadlines so good time keeping is important and flexibility to cope with workload which can be as little as 1 hour a week up to 6/7 hours a week.

We would also be particularly interested if you have skills/contacts/links within Marketing, Publicity or Public Relations.

There is no application process as everyone is welcome; however we are only looking to build a small team so we will be holding an induction session where there will be an informal discussion to see if you are a good fit for the team and if we can offer you what you’re looking for.

Allianz Graduate Scheme- additional places released and deadline extended

E-mail sent by Anisa Jamil, Monday, 9th April 2012 @ 1:02am

I am writing to you to let you know that Allianz, which ranked #27 in the 2011 Fortune 500 Global Employer list, has released more places for its UK graduate scheme.

Not only that, it has also as a result extended the deadline for applications to Friday 27 July.

Allianz is one of the world's largest companies across any sector. It has more than 150,000 staff working in some 70 countries. It was ranked #27 in the latest Fortune 500 list of global companies, based on revenue - that's ahead of the likes of JP Morgan, Citigroup, Nestle, Honda and Nissan.

The UK part of Allianz is called Allianz Insurance plc, and those of you who attended the CII's university tour this year were likely to have come across an Allianz graduate.

While you won't see the Allianz brand on the high street, they are a major presence in the insurance sector and have offered graduate schemes and second year summer placements for several years. Their brand is seen in Formula 1 and at Bayern Munich's football stadium, to give just two examples.

For more information on this opportunity visit: http://www.discoverrisk.co.uk/news/650/New-Allianz-graduate-positions-available--scheme-deadline-extended-to-Friday-27-July/

Kind Regards
Bright Futures Leeds
