Call for Participation
The field of ICT for Development (ICT4D) is an emerging research area
where ICT interventions are developed and assessed for the express purpose
of socio-economic and human development. The need for dialogue and
coordination and the opportunity for collaboration was recognized and led
to a sequence of two workshops in 2014, at SAICSIT '14 and IDIA '14. This
workshop is the next step in building a local community around ICT4D.
As a co-located workshop at the SAICSIT 2015 conference, the ICT4D
workshop will include some invited talks and provide a space for
researchers to discuss local issues and strategic directions in ICT4D
research in South Africa (and the region). This will be done through the
medium of breakaway and plenary discussions. Topics for discussion
include: funding, structures for collaboration and dissemination, priority
research areas and continental engagement.
Alison Gillwald the Director of Research ICT Africa and Jonathan Donner,
Senior Director - Research, Caribou Digital will be giving keynote talks.
The workshop will be run as a joint and collaborative event with the
AISSAC seminar, thus bringing together the widest audience of ICT4D
researchers at SAICSIT.
We invite all researchers in ICT4D to participate in this workshop,
which will be held on Monday 28 September 2015 at STIAS in Stellenbosch.
Further details on the workshop can be found at:
Registration details can be found on the SAICSIT conference page:
