Business Process Management and the role of the European BPM Round Table
Do you know what BPM is?
BPM is the discipline that combines knowledge from information technology and knowledge from management sciences and applies this to operational business processes.

Over the past two decades, Business Process Management has caused a radical change in the way in which organizations work. Organizations evolve around their key business processes and increasingly rely on Information Technology. Without well-designed processes and supporting information systems, organizations are unable to compete and will not survive.

Europe is leading in Business Process Management (BPM) research. The European BPM Round Table was established in 2012 and is a federation of more than 20 national BPM round tables aiming to transfer cutting-edge research into new products and services in the area of Business Process Management.

ICTD2013 final CFP for open sessions due on 28 June 2013 and a reminder about Notes (due 26 July) and Demos (due 23 August)
ICTD2013 – Information and Communications Technologies for Development Conference 2013
On 7-10 December 2013, the sixth international conference on Information and Communication Technologies (ICTD2013) will be held in Cape Town, South Africa. Held in cooperation with ACM SIGCHI and ACM SIGCAS, ICTD2013 will provide an international forum for scholarly researchers exploring the role of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in social, political, and economic development.
Call for Notes – ICTD2013
You are to invited to submit a Note, which is a new category for the conference. With a shorter 4-page format, Notes are intended to highlight work from a range of researchers and practitioners, and can be used to introduce work-in-progress that may be published later in a journal, as well as to document shorter project write-ups.
Notes will be assessed according to their research contribution, methodological soundness, quality of analysis, quality of writing, and presentation. Manuscripts considering novel designs, new technologies, project assessments, policy analyses, impact studies, theoretical contributions, social issues around ICT and development, and so forth will be considered, however Notes need not necessarily be as comprehensive, novel, or generalizable as Full Papers.
All Notes submissions are strictly limited to four pages. To allow for late-breaking findings, Notes are due on July 26, 2013, closer to the date of the conference. Authors of accepted Notes will be required to prepare a poster. For more information, please see the conference website:
Call for Open Sessions – ICTD2013
Additionally, the Open Sessions proposal deadline is coming up very soon, June 28, 2013! We invite you to contribute to this lively, informal, and interactive component of the ICTD conference. Successful proposals will work towards the conferences goals of (1) accessibility and inclusion (2) participation and dialogue and (3) excellence. For details about submitting an open session proposal see
Call for Demos – ICTD2013
An extra channel for participating in the conference is the Demos Session, with a deadline of August 23. This track will provide the opportunity to showcase demonstrations of novel hardware or software systems, video footage, or physical artifacts of interest to the ICTD community. To submit a demo, please use the demo application form here.

Invitation to scientific writing and publications Workshop

E-mail sent by Edgar Napoleon Asiimwe, Monday, 25th March 2013 @ 2:41pm

Dear IPID members,

We are pleased to invite you to attend an interactive half-day workshop on ’Scientific Writing and Publishing’ to be held at Örebro University, Sweden on the 29th April, 2013 at 13:15 – 16:00.

There is quite a significant number of research papers on ICT4D but not all of them are rich in scientific rigor and relevance. Furthermore, researchers spend time and efforts finding the right publication venues and struggle getting their scholarly work published. This workshop therefore serves to educate scholars in ICT4D on contemporary issues in regards to writing scientific papers and publications.

The workshop speakers will be:

Dr. Åke Grönlund, Professor in Informatics at Örebro University, Chair of AIS Special Interest Group on Electronic Government (SIGeGov) and Chair of Swedish Academy of Information Systems

Dr. Annika Andersson, Assistant Professor and Program Manager, Informatics master program at Örebro University and   Member of Editorial board, Journal of Information Technology for Development (ITD)

To register your interest or inquire about the seminar, please send an e-mail to Edgar Napoleon A. <> by the latest the 22nd April 2013.

There is no registration or attendance fee. IPID will only sponsor IPID-members that are affiliated to a SPIDER-affiliated Swedish University. We will sponsor 15 participants with up to 600 SEK for travel related expenses.

Please note that at the end of the workshop, all participants will be given a ‘Certificate of attendance’.

Looking forward to your registration and to welcome you at Örebro University!

Download the invitation! More details about the seminar will be published.
