Why Instant Pot Electric Pressure Cookers Are So Popular These Days

Imagine this scenario, you're on your way home from work and the line at the local fast burger joint is snaking out onto the main road. That means it's going to take at least 20 minutes or more to get the family dinner, and their prices have risen to where it costs at least $25 for the four of you. On the other hand, the meat market is next door with no line, great pork shoulders, and good prices. In fact, for about $10 you can buy a huge roast and cook it in your Instant Pot with potatoes and carrots and be done before anyone else gets home. That's the big advantage of owning a computer controlled electric pressure cooker, like the Instant Pot.

That Pork Shoulder You Just Bought

If you're familiar with a slow cooker, and who isn't these days, then you already know they cook meats until they are so tender you can eat them with a spoon. The only problem with slow cookers is that they are very slow, you have to plan ahead, and have time in the morning to get everything ready so that you can eat when you get home.

With an electric pressure cooker, on the other hand, you can chop some new potatoes (no need to peel), add in some carrots, some frozen corn and peas mixed, then spice up that pork shoulder and put it on top of everything. Then you just set the time, and you're done. Now, you're wondering exactly how much time, well, there are about 200 recipes available for pork shoulder stew online right this second.

Read one, get the time, hit a couple of buttons and then relax. Your stew will be ready when the timer goes off, about 30 minutes from now, but here's the thing.  Since the pressure cooker is sealed most of the time, all of the valuable nutrients, like vitamins and minerals, are kept trapped in the pot.

And so are all of the natural flavors as well. You'll note that your home doesn't smell for 6 hours while the stew is cooking, like when you use the slow cooker, so all of that flavor is still in the pot as well. In addition to that, the pressure cooker will actually force a lot of that flavor deep into the meet and potatoes, making them taste better than ever before.  So, instead of cooking all of the best parts of your food out into the air, they are retained in the food that you eat.
